"Aha. In your dreams, sweetheart." My sister, Nicole says.

"NO! Give me my phone back!" I yell jump up, trying to reach my phone. She's about a foot taller than me. It's sad actually..

She sighs. "Only because you're just the cutest little thing!" She pinches my cheeks.

I slap her hands away "Uh, no. Never take my phone away again. Got it?"

She rolls her eyes. "Arn't you going to meet your boyfriend?" She teases.

"He's not my damn boyfriend, idiot! He's just one of my best friends. Now shoo, peasant! Shoo!"

"Whatever..."

"Bye, Nickie."

"Bye, Lace. Oh! And before you leave, I have to head off to work, so I'll see you in a few hours. Okay?"

"Okay. See you then."I walk out into the morning sun and take a deep breath. I always loved the sun.

"Hey Lacey!" I hear someone yell.

"Oh, hey Robin!" I reply.

"And where are you going? You look rather dashing this morning." She uses her British accent that she only uses around close friends.

"Going out to meet Austin at the park. You? You look like you're going on a date."

She blushes and clears her throat. " Kris Emory asked me out last week."

Let me explain who Kris Emory is:

1) He's super popular.

2) He's adorable.

3) He only goes for people who have a model figure.

4) He's a player.

5) I absolutely hate him.

"Whoa. Kris Emory? Robin, he's a player, and you know that."

"Y-yeah, but...he asked me out. I can't deny him!" She stutters.

I sigh. "Fine. When your heart gets broken-...Just be careful. He's dangerous."

"Don't worry, Lace. I'll be fine. You'll be the first person I tell if it goes right or wrong."

"Okay. Bye, Robin! Call me if you need anything."

She laughs. "Okay. See ya later!"

I start to head towards the park and after 5 minutes, I finally get there.

"Hey Lace!" A boy yells.

"Austin! Why'd you call me here? You said it was urgent." I ask, a little worried.

"I need your help..." He starts to tear up.

"W-why? What happened?"

"You know Lana?" I nod. "Well she got in a car accident last week, and she slipped into a coma. I'm scared for here, Lace."

"Oh my god! Did you go see here yet?"

"I can't. The doctors said no visitors until she wakes up."

"That's bullshit. They should let family in."

"I said I was family, but they were like 'Oh to bad kid.' or 'Ha! Yeah right. Move along." He quotes.

"What the hell? That's total bullshit now."

"I know. I'm so pissed right now."

"Do you want something to drink? Like coffee or something? You look like you haven't slept a wink."

"Sure. See. That's why you're my best friend, Lace." He says hugging me.

"D'awww. Come on. We're like twins!" I laugh.

"True..true."

Once we get to my house, I quickly start making coffee.

"Hey mum. Hey dad." I say as my parents walk in the door.

"Hi sweetheart." My mom pulls me into a tight hug, then see's me making coffee and quickly let's go."Hey Austin!"

"Hi Mrs. Aurore. Hi Mr. Aurore."

"Austin, please. Call me Abigail. And call him Liam. We keep telling you that."

"He's a rebel, mom." I laugh."Here you go." I hand him the coffee. Just then, his phone rings.

"It's the hospital."

"Well don't just stand there. Answer it!" I say.

"Hello...yes...of course.....okay. Bye."

"So?" I ask.

"It was just a confirmation on if I'm her brother."

"Oh..No news yet?"

"Nope. She's still deep in her coma."

"Treehouse?" He nods his head.

The treehouse is where we would go when we're sad or scared. My dad made it for us. And only for us. Even though we're now both 19, we still love it. It's like we're in our own little world.

"Hey." I say after 3 minutes of silence "You okay?"

"I just...can't bear to see her like that. If I go now I'll-" He gets cut off by 4 rounds of gunshots going off.

"The hell?" Austin says.

"I don't know, but it sounded like it came from inside my house." I quickly jump down the ladder. "Come on!"

We both quickly run inside the house to see my mom and dad passed out on the floor, bleeding.

"Oh my god..." I start to tear up. '"I need to call Nickie." I croak out.

"Nickie, get to the house now!" And with that I hang up. I don't want to cry on the phone.

After a few minutes, Nickie's car pulls up in the driveway, and she burts though the door. "What the hell happen-" She looks at the ground where mom and dad are. "No...what the hell happened?"

"We don't know. We were up in the treehouse when this all happened." I say and start busting out in tears.

"We need to get out of the house. J-just for today." Nickie says. I nod and I see Austin nod too.

"Now I can't go." Austin says.

"No, Austin. Go see Lana."

"No. I'm not leaving you with the greif of seeing your parents dead. I'm staying here."

"Thanks, Austin." I smile.
