Chapter 4

"Sunpaw, look over there." Redpaw whispered to Sunpaw. Sunpaw turned and looked at the apprentice den, where Flarepaw was staring at her. His eyes widened and hers blinked at his and he turned away.

"Sunpaw." Redpaw meowed impatiently. Sunpaw turned to face her sister.

"What about you and Stormclaw lately then?" Sunpaw asked her sister slyly before Redpaw could talk. Redpaw licked her chest.

"N-nothing." Redpaw stuttered. Sunpaw purred in delight. Redpaw was never like this. Sunpaw decided that she better not continue since Redpaw seemed like her mood could change.

"You two ready for the gathering tonight?" Flameeye asked them from across the camp. Redpaw jumped up, her embarrassment forgotten.

"Always!"

Sunpaw purred happily. Coalstep nudged her. "Ready to go now?" He asked. Sunpaw nodded and got up. Flameeye had the cats who were leaving meet by the entrance and they all went through.

"Wow.." Redpaw exclaimed as they entered a meadow filled with cats. The journey there had been short, as BlazeClan was the closest Clan to the gathering place.

"That's right. Now why don't you go find some apprentices from the other clans?" Coalstep meowed and Sunpaw ran off to some apprentices with Redpaw close behind.

"Hi there!" Sunpaw meowed cheerily. Her eyes focused on one apprentice though. He was a dark grey and his dark green eyes looked straight at her. Moving away from the crowd of apprentices, she went face to face with him.

"Oh, um, hi, I'm Sunpaw!" Sunpaw blurted out. The tom purred.

"I'm Weedpaw. I guess your from BlazeClan then." Sunpaw nodded and her and Weedpaw's eyes connected.

"The gathering's starting!" Sunpaw realized out loud. The two of them stared up at the rock the leaders were on.

"...And no cats have found the dog after we chased it away. MistClan is well." Miststar finished and Sunpaw realized she missed what she had said.

Miststar stepped down and her silver pelt shined in the moonlight. Lightningstar came up and his yellow pelt looked strange in the light.

"LightningClan is also well. We have Bolttail as the new deputy after Goldenmist died of greencough." Lightningstar announced, his eyes slightly dark. The clans cheered for Bolttail, but knowing that greencough was spreading it was halfhearted.

"The prey is running well in FernClan and we have two new apprentices, Weedpaw and Forestpaw." Fernstar meowed and the clans yowled out their names forcefully. Flameeye made his way to the rock since Blazestar was still weak.

"Blazestar is..unwell and I will take his place for today." Flameeye started. Some cats narrowed their eyes as he spoke, Weedpaw included.

"BlazeClan is strong and we have two new apprentices, Redpaw and Sunpaw!" Flameeye announced and Sunpaw purred as the clans shouted her and her sisters name. "We have also found scents on our border and will look after that." Flameeye meowed and he took a glance at Fernstar, who avoided his gaze.

As the cats began to disperse, Sunpaw ran over to her father, feeling proud. "Flameeye, you were so good!" She meowed and Flameeye purred back.

"Alright, back to camp." He meowed meaningfully and Sunpaw joined her fellow clanmates as they padded back to camp. Two things hung on her mind, Weedpaw, and greencough.

-I'm so sorry that it took so long to get it out. Despite having a goal for 10 votes last chapter I added this one in. I had writers block galore and so at least it's out now. Sorry for the delay.
