Chapter 14 (Part 1)
"I wish we could talk," Forestpelt sighed, looking at Sunflower.
"Only at night is when we can't," Sunflower reminded. Forestpelt snorted and muttered something that Sunflower didn't catch. Sunflower gave a dark look to Forestpelt, guessing what she meowed. Forestpelt ignored her.
"So what do you think StarClan will say?" Sunflower asked softly, wondering if Forestpelt would answer. Much to her relief, she answered quickly.
"I don't know...why didn't the medicine cats go instead?" Forestpelt asked, hers eyes filled with annoyance as she walked into another thicket of brambles. Sunflower purred in amusement and Forestpelt let out a small hiss and a gleam started in her eye.
Forestpelt leapt at Sunflower, and Sunflower was pushed into another thicket. A gasped escaped her as the brambles dug into her fur and Forestpelt purred with satisfaction. Not wanting to be outdone, Sunlower pushed out with her legs and sent Forestpelt sprawling across the forest floor.
Her eyes widened as she stared at Sunflowers now matted fur and let out a mrrow of amusement. "Mousebrain, falling into the brambles like that!" Forestpelt meowed teasingly. Sunflower tried her best to glare, but instead looked thoughtful.
"So, I'm the mousebrain?" Sunflower asked, leaping up and grapping Forestpelt's ear playfully. Forestpelt striked out with sheathed claws and struck down Sunflower's front legs, causing her to fall while still holding Forestpelt's ear. The two she-cats fell down with a thud.
Forestpelt panted lightly, and was purring hard. Sunflower managed to untangle herself and was standing, amusement surrounding her.
"We need to go now," Sunflower said, looking across the sky with a somewhat worried expression. Forestpelt looked at the sky, understanding what Sunflower was meaning. She got up, shaking her body and the two set off.
The sky darkened, and now the two had already stopped talking. Sunflower and Forestpelt avoided the any patrols much to their thanks, and found the moonpool. An understanding was spoken without talking, and Foresteplt led the way in.
It was all dark until coming to a pool of water. Forestpelt hesitated, looking at Sunflower with a hint of uncertainty. Sunflower nodded, and Forestpelt crept up to the pool, and touched her nose to the water. Sunflower followed, and lapped up some water, and then felt sleep take her.
Sunflower woke up in a green land, and looked around wildly. Noticing a flash of a white, she followed it quickly, skidding to a stop when she cam efface to face with Cloudfern.
"Sunpaw!" Cloudfern exclaimed, her green eyes widening. She looked saddened. "Did greencough get you too?"
Sunflower blinked and gazed at Cloudfern's fur before answering. It was a pure white, with sparkling stars glittering in it. Her eyes looked younger, as did her body before the greencough. Her eyes looked slightly troubled.
"Oh! I'm actually Sunflower now," Sunflower answered. Cloudfern looked curious.
"What are you doing here then? Your not dead?" Cloudfern asked. Sunflower shook her head with amusement.
"I'm here for...oh. I wanted to know why StarClan was punishing our clan," Sunflower answered. Cloudfern looked sympathetic.
"Its out of our control. We don't choose who comes to StarClan," Cloudfern replyed, looking sad. Sunflower stared at the she-cat, but she could tell that she was telling the truth. It was beyond even StarClan.
