Chapter 12

"Sunpaw, wake up," Forestpaw murmured in Sunpaw's ear. Sunpaw flicked her ear and turned around, ignoring Forestpaw completely.

"Sunpaw!" Forestpaw meowed irritably, her tail swishing as all sounds of gentleness changed. Sunpaw reluctantly got up.

"What?" Sunpaw asked, her eyes narrowing.

"Clan meeting. Fernstar wants everyone," Forestpaw meowed, moving towards the entrance. Sunpaw hesitated, thinking of sleep. Reluctant, she followed Forestpaw.

Forestpaw sat down and waited for Sunpaw to join. Other cats were also joining, making their way to the clearing, their meows loud.

"Morning, sunshine," Weedpaw meowed in a teasing tone. Sunpaw looked confused, and then saw her fur.

"Mousebrain," She mumbled to herself. All her fur stuck out in random places, and she quickly started licking as Fernstar came to the rock.

"Cats of FernClan, we have all had a hard time, as well as all the clans. But today we welcome new warriors. As they will not replace our former ones, they will become what they are meant to be, if the time for their passing comes," Fernstar meowed in a slight tone of sadness.

He turned his attention as he faced the apprentices, all now looking like they wanted to jump up and move. Stiffening a meow of laughter, he meowed, "Weedpaw, Treepaw, Forestpaw, and Sunpaw, come here."

"Can you believe this?" Forestpaw meowed quietly as the two she-cats made their way to Fernstar. Sunpaw purred quietly and the four apprentices stopped at the foot of the rock.

"I, Fernstar, leader of FernClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. He has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend him to you as a warrior in his turn."

Fernstar turned to Weedpaw "Weedpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

Weedpaw jumped up. "I do!" He exclaimed, and he quickly licked his chest, trying not to embarrass himself further.

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Weedpaw, from this moment you will be known as Weedwhisker. StarClan honors your fighting skill and determination, and we welcome you as a full warrior of FernClan." Fernstar finished. Weedwhisker stood straighter and purred happily. His was the only ceremony Sunpaw actually listened to. And her own.

"I, Fernstar, leader of FernClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn." Fernstar meowed, and Sunpaw realized it was finally her turn.

"Sunpaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?" Fernstar demanded, his gaze unmoving as he stared at her. She shifted.

"I do." She meowed in what she hoped was a clear voice.

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Sunpaw, from this moment you will be known as Sunflower. StarClan honors your cleverness and loyalty, and we welcome you as a full warrior of FernClan." Fernstar meowed warmly.

"Weedwhisker! Treeclaw! Forestpelt! Sunflower!" The clan cheered, and the newly made warriors practically glowed under the clans warm gaze.

"We're finally warriors!" Forestpelt purred, and Hollyflower came up behind her.

"I wish you two could have stayed as kits," Hollyflower admitted, purring. Sunflower purred as well, and her gaze met Weedwhiskers. He shifted away from the crowd as the cheers started dying down.

"Sunflower?" He asked uncertainly. Sunflower came up to him, watching for his next move.

"Do you want to come hunting with me?" He asked, his eyes searching.

"Of course!" Sunflower meowed too quickly, and they stared at each other before heading to the camp entrance, silent.

"Bet I can catch more mice than you!" Weedwhisker challenged. Sunflower purred and started to run, quickly and silently. No way was she going to back down.

-Boring chapter, but I have writers block. Be glad I got something out at all. Oh, that just gave me an idea. Cool. Now I might write the next chapter, but maybe not. Don't want to go too fast, do we?-
