Chapter 6

A harsh light was over Sunpaw. She opened her eyes in bewilderment as a twoleg stood over her. She didn't struggle against it, and she fell asleep.

Sunpaw woke up in a cage. Her head was dizzy as she heard cats meowing all around her. A calico cat about her age stared into her eyes.

"Hi!" The calico chirped brightly. Sunpaw tried to think of what the cat was. A kittypaw or petkitty?

The calico looked straight at Sunpaw, and her forest green eyes reminded Sunpaw of something familiar.

"Hello?" the calico she-cat meowed again, her tail flicking. Sunpaw looked confused.

"Oh, um, hi." Sunpaw meowed distractedly. "Where am I?"

The calico gave Sunpaw a strange look. "Your at the vets office." she meowed helpfully. Sunpaw looked even more confused. The calico sighed.

"You got hit hard from what I heard. Why did you cross the road when a car was coming anyway?"

Sunpaw gave the calico a questioning glance and the calico looked sad.

"What's your name?"

"My name is...." Sunpaw began. She stopped and let out a hiss of frustration. "I don't know!"

The calico merely sighed again and laid down on a fuzzy mosslike nest. Only it felt like fur. Sunpaw laid down too and sank into the strange nest. the sounds around her faded away as she drifted into sleep.

Sunpaw woke to cats meowing louder than yesterday and then realized that a twoleg was in the huge den. Sunpaw shrunk back to the mesh at the back of her cage hoping she wouldn't be seen.

The twoleg must have seen her because it reached its hand in the cage and brought Sunpaw out. Sunpaw meowed and tried to claw it's large paws but she couldn't reach.

The twoleg brought the friendly calico out of her cage two and the two of them were placed into one large cave together.

The twoleg picked up the new cage and walked out into the bright sun.

"Hi again!" the calico meowed to Sunpaw. Sunpaw couldn't understand how she just sat there. Herself was sliding all over the place!

"Just grip the rug with your claws and you'll stay put." the little calico advised and she flexed her claws to demonstrate. Sunpaw clung onto the 'rug' and she stopped sliding.

The twoleg brought them into its den and let the two of them out of the cage. Every time the twoleg held the calico, it said 'Swift'. Every time the twoleg held Sunpaw, it said 'Sunny'.

Sunpaw figured out that the twoleg was naming them but the name Sunny made her remember something forgotten. She thought about it hard but gave up when the twoleg started feeding the two. After all, it was probably just her thinking, right?

-another chapter! yeah! So what do you think will happen to Sunpaw next? Or should I say, Sunny? And a question to readers; who is your favourite character so far?- Moonflier
