Liam POV
I sat in front of the TV, and i heard the thunder and lightning carrying on outside, and as usual i wondered if it was safe to go back out in.I heard the dryer go off, so i pushed myself from my black leather couch to go and retrieve the girls underwear. I pulled the now dry clothing from the machine, and jogged back up the stairs. I went into the guest bedroom, and lightly knocked on the bathroom door, "Yes?" The sweet American voice called from inside, "Erm, I'm just going to slip these under the alright?" I called out to her, and she replied with a light, "Yeah, okay. Thanks," As i pushed them under the door. I sat back on the bed and waited for the girl to exit the bathroom, reading a magazine Nicola must have left. Soon, i heard the door knob twist, and the girl stepped out, the low riding gray sweat pants clinging to her hips, and the white shirt loosely hung over her figure. She was running a brush, which i assume was in her purse, through her hair roughly, causing curses to spill from her pink lips. I chuckled softly, and she squealed jumping, "Liam! You scared me!" She scolded, "And by the way this," She pointed to her tangled hair, "Is your fault!" She huffed, once again trying to pull the bristles through her hair. I smiled innocently, and she rolled her eyes, "I really dont know how to tell you this.." I trailed off, biting my lip, and she stopped brushing her hair, trying to tug the brush out, but to no avail. Instead she stood there her hands on her hips, demanding what was so funny, as i laughed at the fact that the brush was still hanging from her curled locks. She growled, unamused it seemed, smacking my arm, but i could see she found it as funny as i did, "Spit it out, would you Pretty Boy?" She hissed, trying to hide her soft giggles, "Erm, well... It's storming pretty bad, and i think it'd be best if you just stay here tonight." All humor fell from her face, and she nodded slowly to my surprise, but suddenly her eyes widened,
"NO!" she yelled, causing me to jump, "I cant! You gotta take me!" She seemed panicked, as she pulled brush from her hair, "What? Why?" I asked, shocked by her sudden outburst, "Bug!" She exclaimed, as if i should know what that means, "My dog!" "Won't she be okay for jus-" "No! She doesnt like storms! Especially in a strange place! She must be terrified!" "What do you mean strange place?" I asked, and she gathered her things in her arms, including the bag of wet clothes, "I'm here on vacation for the summer! Look, enough questions! Take me or I walk!" She said, sternly, as she slipped on her shoes that had dried somewhat, quickly. Before i knew it she was heading out the guest room door, and against my better judgement i followed, picking up my keys. She headed for the door after going down the stairs, and stepped out into the rain, basically running for the car as the rain pelted her. I sighed and jogged behind her, this girl is so freaking stubborn. I barely got seated when she began to rattle off, "My address is on LongHorn drive circle, do you know where that is?" She asked, looking at me her face full of guilt. I nodded, and she breathed with relief, biting her nails, and she jumped a little as thunder rumbled, "God she must be so scared!" She muttered in distress. I didnt know someone could be this afraid for a dog, but I felt a little tug at my heart at the girls pain, as tears formed in her eyes. I cranked the car, and headed for her vacation home. She bounced her leg the whole way, tapping her fingers impatiently, "It'll be okay," I whispered, trying anything to soothe her, and she turned to look at me and as lightning cracked i could see her face. She looked so worried, and it hurt me to see someone so desperate. She nodded though, in agreement, and it became silent again, all except for the sounds of lightning shattering the sky.
She let out a breath of relief as the road came into view, and pointed to the home she was staying at, it was actually beautiful, but not uncommon. I pulled into the drive, and she pushed the door open as soon as i put the car in park. She stumbled out, and i thought she was going to leave without another word as she slammed the door shut, and i felt myself looking at my hands, disappointed. I heard a knock, and glanced up to see her motioning for me to roll down the window. I did, and the sounds of the rain pelting the car, her roof, the pavement echoed. Her hair was once again wet, as the rain beat down without mercy on her, she raised her voice for me to hear, "Thanks Liam!" I nodded, smiling warmly, and i got to see somewhat of a smile on her lips, "By the way, my name's Cassie!" With that she pushed from the car, and jogged to the porch, and i could only watch her small figure leave. I turned back to the wheel, recranking the car, as i heard the sound over the car, the rain, everything, and it was simply sweet. It made me look up once again, to the sweet noise, and i saw the young girl still on the porch, her head flung back in laughter as a small brown animal licked at her face as she held it to her chest. The sound had me hypnotized, as she continued to giggles and laugh as she said things to the dog that i couldnt understand as it's tail whipped at her arms in excitement. She glanced up to me, and even from the distance i could see the gleam in her eyes, and for once i saw a true genuine smile on her face. It was beautiful, and everything about her lit up, and i felt myself smiling back as she waved, however i couldnt help but wish i was the reason for that smile. I gave a soft wave as i watched her turn, entering the house. I didn't necessarily like her in a romantic way, but i was simply infatuated by her. She was so guarded, and nothing would make her smile, except the smallest things, such as an overly excited dog. She was so young, and i wonder what could make someone so young an innocent so lost and cold. I found myself smiling at my hands laying in my lap, "Cassie.." The name fell from my lips, and i liked the way it sounded.
Cassie POV
I curled into my bed, Nellie Bug tucked into my side, and i took notice of the time as a tear fell from my eyes. 12:30 A.M. And through my tears i smiled, I made it a whole 24 hours without crying for the first time in 2 years, and the relief that filled my chest made me cry that much harder, because i didnt want to be relieved. I didnt want to stop grieving like so many others, because moving on means forgetting, and i couldnt make it through if i did that.
