Cherry Blossoms (Rei x Reader)

"Oh, Rei! Aren't these cherry blossoms lovely?" You asked your boyfriend, well, kind of boyfriend. You thought of him as one, but he only loved the beautiful things, and you certainly did not think of yourself as beautiful, you were pretty sure no girl actually thought of herself as beautiful.

"Yes, they are Y/n-chan." He nodded in agreement as he stared at the orchid in the middle of the park, lining the main sidewalks as it was that time in Japan, when the cherry blossoms bloomed. "They indeed, are very beautiful." He kept on as he picked one, placing it in your hair, well kind of, it fell of immediately after as he shrugged. "I tried." He simply stated and walked ahead, with the picnic basket in hand.

"H-Hey, Rei, wait!" You yelled out after him, jogging to catch up with him, it would be seen as romantic to others that you were having a picnic in the park together, but to Rei it was a friendly bonding time, since you guys were so busy at school and only saw each other some days after school and on the weekends.

So it resorted to this shindig, a little picnic in the park once a month, on a Saturday of course. The thought thrilled you at first as you had thought of the first one as basically your first date with him, except it really was just friends time.

He would probably never know about the crush you've had on him, even though you've been so obvious about it, and on purpose as well.

He still didn't notice every romantic gesture you did, you've even held hands together once in public, and he still was totally oblivious.

It kind of made you mad, well, it actually made you really mad and even the boys had tried to help him realize that you liked him. But he would either brush it off or deny the feelings you had for them, saying the boys were probably just joking.

"We can have it here Y/n, it's very beautiful here." Rei looked around before beginning to lay out the red plaid blanket, it was so cliche that he had one of these blankets, but then again, it made you feel like you were in a romance movie.

Except there wasn't any romance, at all.

He sat down onto it and patted on an empty space across from him for you to sit down as well, as you did, you never noticed him as he stared at you, admiring your beautiful movements.

You looked up and saw he was looking into the basket. Of course. He wouldn't look at you in that way, ever, eventually you'd have to move on. But saying it is a lot easier than actually doing it.

"Look at that butterfly Rei! It's blue just like your hair!" You giggled at the sight of the blue butterfly that had landed on his shoulder. You could have sworn they were twins.

He smiled halfheartedly as he attempted to look over, scaring off the butterfly as he did so. He stuck out his lower lip just barely in sadness, "I guess I'm just not beautiful." He sighed as he placed the food down, and you two began to eat.

"You know," you started as you reached for a sandwich, "I really do enjoy these friend outings we have." You smiled at him as he was looking around, still trying to find the butterfly.

"Yeah, it helps me relax since even though I don't complain about it, Nagisa can get a little tiring once in a while, it's good to have more than one friend who hangs out with you." He explained as internally, you were frowning, yet on the outside, you were smiling, agreeing with every word he said.

You were so helplessly in love with him.

"It's a very beautiful day, isn't it?" You heaved a light sigh as he chuckled, nodding in agreement as well as he swallowed the food in his mouth.

"I must say, it's very funny to hear you say it like that Y/n-chan." He chuckled again, his head falling back a bit as you gazed upon him. He always looked for the beautiful things in life, but you never really noticed if he ever noticed, he was a beautiful thing in life.

He made a face as you realized you were staring, looking down as your cheeks flushed, trying to contain it as much as possible as you gently cleared your throat, probably sounding too feminine at the moment. You couldn't help it though, you were a female hopelessly in the feelings all the time, it's bound to happen.

"Y/n...your face is about as pink as those cherry blossoms!" He burst out laughing as he teased you, making your face go a bit red from how hard you were blushing, you couldn't help it though. Because like, what if that was a compliment? Could he have just complimented you, was it just you dreaming?

You pinched yourself on the arm, wincing slightly as he was still laughing, his eyes closed as you did so, then gently caressed over the little red mark on your arm, smiling foolishly to yourself.

"Y/n, you really are beautiful." He said softly as your face heated up again, this time it was definitely a compliment. Don't freak out, just stay calm, breathe normally, smile.

Except all that did was repeat in your head as you smiled to yourself, trying to control your heart rate as he suddenly grabbed your hands, the contact making you jump as he did so, but it didn't seem to bother him nonetheless.

"I've been meaning to ask you this for a while, but...would you do be the honor of being my beautiful girlfriend?" He asked sheepishly as he stared into your eyes as well, oh how your inner fan girl literally screamed.

"Y-Yes Rei!" You said excitedly as you jumped into his arms, knocking the both of you over as you laid on top of him, hugging him as you both chuckled, even though you felt like crying because you were so happy, you decided not to because what a moment ruiner.

He looked up at your smiling face as he tucked a loose strand of hair behind your ear, then slowly and gently, placed his lips on yours, the feeling in your chest was unbearable, you felt like you couldn't breathe, but in a good way.

"OOOOH! What is thiiiiiiiis?!!" You heard a familiar voice cheer out as you heard footsteps approaching you two as you ended your kiss with Rei, looking up at nobody other than Nagisa and the other boys. "Rei and Y/n-chan are dating now, they were just kissing!" Nagisa squealed as you got off of Rin, your face a dark shade of red as you both awkwardly stood up.

So much for a moment ruiner.

"I approve." Makoto chuckled as Haru just nodded, Gou was on the ground, so she probably fainted, and Nagisa grabbed you from Rei, hugging you.

"I am so happy for you Y/n!!" He yelled excitedly as you suddenly felt him being pulled away from you, then you being pulled into somebody's chest as you couldn't see what was going on, but you knew it was Rei who had pulled you into him.

"Nagisa, don't touch the beautiful things, you'll end up ruining their beauty." He said scornfully as Nagisa whined.

"That is so not fair! I'm Y/n-chan is my friend!" You heard Nagisa pout as he was probably crossing his arms, but you just dug your face into his chest even more, as his arms wrapped around you and he rested his chin on your head.

You heard him mutter softly, "I love you Y/n." He whispered as you blushed, even though he couldn't see it, you really were happy.

And you only hoped for more happiness to come.
