When your father walked out of your life due to his intoxicating alcohol addiction, you were a wreck.
The man you had grown to love, besides his illness, screamed at your mother, then left.
The divorce papers came in through the mail, and honestly your mother was trying to put on a brave face.
You, were a wreck.
It wasn't common for somebody to get a divorce in the city of Iwatobi, the word spread quickly and soon at school, everybody was sending sympathetic glances at your now quiet being, when normally you were loud and energetic.
You still attended swim practice with the swim team though, trying to keep up with your or all schedule, do things to keep your mind off of it.
Honestly, you felt alone even when your were surrounded by people.
"You don't have to come if you're not feeling up to it y/n." Makoto said kindheartedly, out of everybody he was probably the most sympathetic about the situation, him being the big caring monster after all.
"No no Makoto I'm fine, plus we're already at Samezuka anyways." You heaved a sigh, shoving your hands in your jacket pockets, it was a Saturday and you were here with the boys since Gou couldn't make it, she had a date surprisingly. So here you were in yoga pants and a baggy t-shirt with a black jacket on, because it was cold outside, to manage the team.
"Yeah but it's not an important practice..." He tried again to convince you that you didn't have to be there, and you knew he was trying to help, but it hurt at the same time for some strange reason.
"Makoto, I'm here because I want to be here, okay?" You sighed, which is something you rarely did as he gently smiled, nodding his head.
"Okay y/n-chan." He agreed as all of you walked into the doors of Samezuka, the chlorine immediately filled your sense of smell as you scrunched your nose, needing some time to get adjusted to the intense fragrance.
"We'll go get changed, thanks for being here y/n." Makoto smiled as you nodded, going off to sit on the bleachers, while you gazed into the water.
There were a few lingering males, maybe second or first-years, unlike a third-year that you were.
You were thinking of what a small team it was this year, until many, many more piled out of the boys locker room.
Your eyes didn't bother to widen as your chin rested on the backside of your hand, taking on what most would call 'the thinker' pose.
You watched them all huddle together around Rin, a boy whom you had known since last year, as they spoke in loud voices.
Soon enough, nearly all of the boys were in the water, and the iwatobi boys came rushing out of the locker rooms to join them, especially Haru, who was nearly running.
Suddenly, a figure plopped down next to you, but you dared not to turn your head.
"What's your story?" He asked you as your shoulders stiffened, what was your story? Why was he asking you?
"My story got burned up." You mumbled into the palm of your hand, bored with where you were.
"Nonsense." He retorted, with a slight scoff as you turned to see who was making these remarks, you had never seen him before.
"Ah! I see you've met Sousuke." Rin clapped his hands together, "That saved me time, bye Y/n!" He called out before diving in the pool, trying to race Haruka once more.
"You don't know me." You rolled your eyes, but his bored into you as if he was reading your soul, and every exact nature of your wrongs.
"That doesn't mean you don't have a story, what's your deal anyways?" He scoffed, though you knew he did not want your answer, but if he didn't stop provoking you, he would get it.
"You better drop it, new kid." You warned him in a threatening tone, with your makeup on he could not possibly see your reddening face because of the heat in your eyes which were only known by you.
He finally got up from his sitting position. "I'm just saying there's no need to be some sort of bitch about it-"
You shot up from your seat, interrupting him half-sentence by colliding your palm with his cheek.
Gasps were heard all around the pool, it was certainly a sight to see since you were much smaller than he was, and his eyes could kill.
"My father, whom I trusted in very much, just got up and walked out of my life, okay? Am I seriously a bitch for being so emotionally unstable that I'd rather not talk about it? Here's also a fun fact, if I say I don't want to talk about something, you don't keep pestering me until it's out!" You were crying by now, and his eyes were heavy with guilt as your petite form was not shaking, not only from your anger but from the embarrassment that all eyes were on you. "I don't care who you think you are, but you better not ever come up to me again and be so rude when you don't even know me!" You finished and before he could speak, Nagisa pulled you back towards him, and grabbed your stuff with you and left.
Sousuke, whose name was poison to your tongue by now, chased after you two in utter guilt.
"I-I'm sorry I thought you were just playing hard to get and I-I didn't mean it! I feel really bad like you said I'm new and I didn't even know you and my mother raised me so much better!" He dropped to his knees and Nagisa gasped, which meant it must have been rare for him to do this.
You blushed out of utter embarrassment, "I-It's okay, I'm just not over it yet." You smile, as he gets off the ground.
"C-Can we just go out sometimes as an apology-type thing?" He asked as he fiddled with his thumbs.
"Of course, hope your face doesn't hurt too bad." You frowned awkwardly as he shook his head.
"No, No, I deserved it. I-I'll see you around though." He stammered before going back inside, and Nagisa was facing you with his jaw-dropped.
"Y/n'a got a date with Sousuke-Chan! He must like feisty women!" Nagisa screeched as you scowled.
"What did you just say you little punk?!" You snarled as he began running, the other boys came out to see the scene as Nagisa was running away from you all over the school grounds.
"H-Hey! Y/n! Ow! Where did you even get pencils? I-I take it back just sto- OW!"
