"This is...the end, isn't it?"

Your eyes were gazing up at the stars, what a beautiful night it was. In the arms of your lover, Haruka Nanase.

He didn't respond, how was it always that the beautiful nights were always the hardest? They always had some sort of hidden pain to bring out, which makes it even more beautiful. The stars began to shimmer while your tears blurred your vision, the twinkling beauties seeming so far away.

"You've decided where you're going, it's somewhere in Tokyo with Makoto isn't it?" You said hesitantly, trying to hide the quivering in your voice. You knew this day would come, but you never knew it would feel quite like this.

It felt as if somebody were standing over you, their foot pressing down on your chest, weighing it down and making it hard to breathe. Your lungs screamed at you to get a grip as your heart was crying itself, quivering as it was beating loudly, as if begging you to not do it.

"You...have you decided where you're going?" He asked for once, as it was the only question you had dreaded hearing.

"I'm going to America." You whispered as you felt his arms go rigid around you, his whole body had tensed up. A tear had slid down your cheek, what a stupid time to cry, but you couldn't help it.

It was time to end it all, the whole three years it was.

"Y/n-chan!" You turned around at the sound of the voice, it was Haruka Nanase. Quite the talker around you and Makoto actually, though you were positive he hated everybody else slightly.

"Good morning Haru-chan! It's the first day at Iwatobi high school!" You smiled brightly as he smiled in return, then letting his cool look take over again.

"Please, don't add the -chan to the end of my name Y/n-chan." He pouted as he crossed his arms, walking beside you.

"Haru-chan! Why do you have to be so cool?" You laughed as his cheeks turned red. "Haru-chan is an adorable nickname, that's why I call you it." You shrugged your shoulders as you weren't bothered by the comment, but Haru was bright red in the face.

He suddenly grabbed your shoulders and made you fave him before he kissed you, taking you and maybe even himself by surprise.

"Sorry Y/n-chan." He sighed once he let you go. "I didn't mean to do that its just that I like you so-"

"I like you too Haru!" You giggled as you watched him struggle to get the words out, his face a dark maroon color.

"R-Really? Do you want to be my girlfriend?" He asked, grinning like a fool as you nodded, accepting his offer.

It was so long ago, your first day and year at Iwatobi High. You had attended middle school with Haru and Makoto, so there was no doubt that you would have a special connection with one of the two. It just happened to be Haru who fell in love with you.

"How long?" He asked as you unintentionally gasped, as if trying to prepare yourself for your answer.

You exhaled while saying, "Eight years."

He had slowly but gracefully unwound his arms from around you, you knew it would end like this. "I want to be a Doctor, so Iwatobi doesn't ever feel like they're in desperate need of one ever again." You said aloud, Iwatobi wasn't all in the means of small, it had the Iwatobi High School and Samezuka academy, but all of the doctors worked in the hospitals, and there was only one family doctor in town. Sometimes, he couldn't see all of the children.

"I'll wait." He responded stoically as you got up, you felt like you couldn't get the air you needed at the moment as he stood up behind you, wrapping you up in a hug from behind.

"Haru, let go." You murmured as he just squeezed you tighter, causing your chest to ache from the sadness.

"Haru!" You cried out and hit his arms, making him release you as you turned around to face him, taking a few steps back to keep the distance.

"You can't wait eight years! I know you, and I trust you'll stay to your word. But eight years is an awfully long time and I think it's better to break up." You finally had given your speech as you saw his eyes quiver.

He hated the fact of losing you.

"I'll wait." He responded again, not seeing where you were going with this, "Then we can start our future."

These words struck home to you, why couldn't he just get it.

"You idiot!" You yelled at him, surely Makoto had heard by now. "There is no future for us! We're breaking up now! We have no idea what it's going to be like Haru, what if I never come back?" You were sobbing now, your petite figure shaking and lower lip trembling as you wiped the tears from your cheeks.

"But you just said-"

"Y/n! Haru! What's wrong?" You saw Makoto run up as your vision blurred again, and you ran away, leaving them both there.

You ran until you reached a park close to your home, the park where Haru had promised, and you had promised, that you would be there forever.

"Y/n, I don't see the point of this." Haru said stoically as you held his hand, having a picnic in the park was the typical date for you both.

"Haru! You said you had to give me something important, I had to cancel my plans for you, what are you talking about?" You asked as he smirked, a mischievous grin appearing on his face.

"I know I did, I was just pulling your leg." He lightly shoved your shoulder, making you sway a bit as you came back, kissing his cheek for the heck of it. Watching him blush was something you had loved.

"I...wanted to give you this." Haru pulled out something from behind his back. It was a beautiful silver necklace with a turquoise colored stone in the middle. "It's to symbolize that no matter what, we'll always be together."

Your heart aches once more, as you fiddled with the necklace sitting upon your chest, while sitting on the uncomfortable park bench. Haru had been your first everything, from hug, to kiss, to, well, y'know. Everything all just came crashing down on you at once, the reality of it.

You were leaving tonight. Your flight leaving in about three hours. You couldn't bring yourself to tell Haru, your parents had brought your stuff before you, so it would be less of a burden.

You didn't want to leave without saying goodbye, but maybe it was for the best.

Because you knew that if you went back to Haru right now, you would never go to America, and never be able to follow your dream.

You saw a parked taxi cab nearby as you hopped inside. "Airport, please." You asked politely as he smiled, and began driving away.

Goodbye Haru,
I hope you'll understand one day.
