Chapter 22

Dan came with an idea to go on holiday's this summer. I have never left the country, my mom never took me on holidays. I brought Alison to Waterford, for holiday's, she hasn't left the country though. This shall be exciting, my first holiday with Dan. Dan get's the summer off work, which is pretty good about being a teacher. I can take a month off work, in the summer for holiday's.

It's about two weeks until the summer holiday's, I am booking the plane tickets, to Italy. I always wanted to go to Italy, especially Rome. Okay three coach tickets to Rome, Italy. I let Dan book the hotel, considering he has been to Rome before. Off to work, I go. Dan drops Alison off at school considering he's passing it while he goes to work. Dan and I kiss each other our goodbye's off we go to work. Driving out in our cars. It is almost like Dan and I are married.

Today was a long day at wAork, I am now on my way to pick Alison up from after school club. Dan has a staff meeting so won't be home until later. I walk into Alison's school building. “Hello I am here for Alison Roberts.”

“Alison Roberts, has already been picked up.”

“What do you mean?"

"A lady came here for her, she said she was her grandmother.”

“What so just gave my daughter to a stranger.”

“Alison, said she was her grandmother, so we thought it was okay.”

“Okay, please excuse me. I am going to try and find my daughter.”

“We are terribly sorry Ms Roberts.”

I ran out of the school building and went to the car to get my phone. I had to call Dan. Dan ignored the first call. I rang again Dan answered on the third ring. “Erin I am in a meeting, can I call you back?”

“Well some picked Alison up from school, I think it could my crazy mother. Did you mom by chanced pick her up?”

“What? Okay I'll be there in five.”

Before Dan hung up I can hear him saying “Sorry I got to leave early, family emergency “

Dan met me outside Alison's school. “Call your mom to see did she pick her up.”

“I don't know why my mom would pick her up, but I'll try her.”

Dan rang his mother. “Hey by chance did you collect Alison from school?"... "What no. Okay gotta to go".."It's a long story" "Yes Bye”

“Well my mom didn't, I am guessing your crazy mother did.”
Fuck I swear I am going to kill my mom, for kidnapping my daughter.

“No no, I think we should call the police. “ I said freaking out

“Here the police station is around the corner.”

Dan and I walked to the police station.

“Hello, I would like to report a kidnapping, my daughter Alison has been taken from the school grounds, we reckon my mother kidnapped my daughter. “

“How old is she?”

“Six.”

“How long ago since you last seen you daughter?”

“This morning.”

“Well call back in 48 hours to file a missing person's report.”

“What 48hours, she could be dead and buried by then. My mother is a former alcoholic and is a abusive when she drink's. Can you please do something?”

“Have called your mother?”

“I don't have my mother's number, I have nothing to do with my mother.”

“Well I am sorry we can't do anything.”

Dan and I left the station. I broke down crying, I couldn't stop thinking of the thing's my mother did to me. Dan put his arms around me “Shh it will be alright.” I could tell Dan is just saying that, to try and calm me. You can see he is freaking out inside. I think the thought of knowing what my mom is like that freaks us out. “I am going to call Emily.”

I picked up my phone and dial for Emily, Emily answered on the second ring. “Hello stranger.”

“Hey Emily, we think my mother took Emily from school.”

“Wow I am coming to you. Where are you?”

“Dan and I are at the guard station.”

“Okay I'll be there in ten.”

Ten minutes later Emily appeared, she hopped out of her car and hugged me “Shh, baby it should be fine. She probably won't hurt Alison. Oh did try calling to your mom's house.”

“No, but could of moved.”

“Call Josh and see.”

I called Josh. Josh answered on the first ring. “Hey what's up sis?”

“Does mom still live in the same house?”

“Yeah, why you going to make up with her?”

“No maybe to kick her ass.”

“Why, what has she done?”

“We think she took Alison from school.”

“Oh, are you sure she would do that?”

“Josh this women nearly bet me to death. She called at my door a few weeks ago and when she lay her eye's on Alison she wanted to be apart of her life. On my graduation, I basically told her to back off and leave me alone. I think this women is cable of just anything, please excuse while I go and I try to find my daughter.”

I hung up before Josh responded. I better get looking because Alison could be across the country by now.

Dan and I drove to my mother's house in Dan's car. We'll pick mine up later. Emily drove in her car. We are parked outside my old house. Uh it gives me the shivers. Bad memories running through my mind. I always hated that old brown brick wall that our house is made out of.

We knocked on the door, but no answer. Dan knocked again, but still no answer. Dan's phone start ringing. “It's Alison.” What Alison is calling him with what.

“Em how is she calling you.”

“Oh I bought her an emergency phone.”

Dan answered and put it on speaker. “Hello Where are you?”

“I am locked in a room” whispered Alison

“Do know where you are?”

“we are at a wooden house, there is a lot of trees.”

“I know where she is. She is at my mother cabin house. We are coming to get you baby.”

“I got to go, she coming.” Before Alison manage to hang up we could hear. “Who were talking to?”

“No one.” Then we heard a slap and the line was then cut.

I broke down crying, “That bitch is going to die, when I get my hands on her.”

“Shh Erin don't talk like that, you're just angry.” murmur Emily

“No she is dead.” added Dan

We all went back into our cars, I was driving, Emily was following behind us.

We drove a few miles. There I was the cabin. The lights are on. Emily knocks on the door but my mother ran out the back, but Dan and I were one step ahead, we were waiting at the back door Dan grabbed a hold of my mother.

I ran into the house. “Alison where are you?” I didn't hear a response. I went into the bed first bedroom but no one was there. The second bedroom door was locked. I broke down the door. OH MY GOD Alison!  Alison is lying on the floor. I went over to her to see if she still breathing. She has a heart beat. I ran out carrying Alison. “Emily Called an ambulance and the police.” I shouted from the top of my voice.
