Chapter 10

As the weeks goes by it is getting closer to my state examinations, my nerve system is nearly about to explode. I have a lot of studying to be doing and bit catching up from the weeks I missed. I do admit I can a bit nerdy at times, but I would never admit that to Emily. Emily calls me a nerd and yet she is smarter than me. To be honest I don’t mind being called a nerd at least I am seen as smart.

It is graduation day; none of my family decided to come to my graduation but Josh. It was sad, but Emily’s parents made me feel like I was like one of their own. They were nice to me even when my mom drinking. The graduation was cool; it made me feel that secondary school flew past.

I haven’t seen Dan much besides school, I have been studying and he understands. One day I was walking to work I passed this house, I just happened to look in the window and I saw my dad making out with a girl. I didn’t know what to be like. Should I be freaked out that something I seen while in a coma came true or to be mad for my dad leaving me?

I just try to forget about what I just saw. State examinations start in two days, I am so scared. I am very hungry lately I am eating a bit more than usual, but I guess it is stress. Emily and I went to the library to study for the next two days before the state examinations.

State examinations came, I was so nervous I would cry. My first examination paper; English paper 1 was handed to me I just a deep breath and read it first. I knew most of the answers and when I first reading it. I just flew through it, it was really easy. The rest of the exams were easy I just flew through them.

15th of June yes I am officially finished school. I feel so relaxed that the state examinations are over. That night Emily and I went out to celebrate, we went to a club. I didn’t drink much because my mom being an alcoholic.

The next morning I was waking up vomiting, I barely drank anything. Later that next I realized I am two weeks late on my period. I hadn’t notice that much because of state examinations. I got worried; I had thought there could be a possibility of me pregnant.

I start freaking out inside, I told Emily I think I could be pregnant, she nearly died too. We bought a few pregnant testes. Five out six them were positive. OH MY GOD I passed out with shock.

“Erin it will be alright Hun, I am here for you.”

I was speechless. I just sat like I was frozen for hours.

“I am not going to be able to go to college for at least another year.”

“Shh baby, what is the rush about college? You can go anytime, don’t worry everything will be alright.” Said Emily trying to be calm herself;

Lately that night I went to Dan’s place, he invited me in.

“Is there something wrong baby?”

I couldn’t tell him I am having his child, for one it could ruin his career if it got out and two I don’t expect him to stick by me with this.

“Em...”

“Baby this isn't going to work out, let’s face it we were never going to have a normal relationship. We are never going to get married. You can have the car back if you want. We are over sorry.”

Tears building up in my eyes; that killed me inside just to say it.

I could see tears building up in Dan’s eyes; I couldn’t stay to see this. I walked out of the house. As I was walking out the house Dan shouted “You can keep the car to remind you, I love you.” I couldn’t help but cried my eyes out.

When I got to Emily’s it was late everyone was asleep. I just got changed and hopped into bed, I just cried. Emily woke up and heard me crying.

“Shh baby, what’s the matter?”

“I broke up with Dan, it was one of the hardest things I’ve done. “I said sobbing; Emily just hugged me until I fell asleep.

The next day I counted the money I had saved from the past few months; I had €1498. I went online to look for my own place; I don’t expect Emily’s parents to help me with a kid. I felt I own them enough. I found a three bedroom little house, I thought it was perfect rent was only €450 a month.

First month is €700, later that day Emily and I went to view it is a lovely little place. The landlord was an old lady, she was really nice. She was willing to rent it to me; I just had to fill out a few forms. I am lucky I already have a bank account.

Within the next three days Emily helped me move in; I said Emily can move in with me if she want. She decided she would. I tried to give Emily's parents money for taking me in but they refused to take it.
