DAY 13
ZAYN'S P.O.V.
There was always something I never liked in the number 13. When I noticed that this was the 13th day (yes, I was keeping count) and saw that it was raining for the second day in a row, I knew that this was going to be absolutely bullocks. From what I've heard, Niall told the girl yesterday about everything--including the parts where she didn't have to know.
"Niall," I whispered to him in the car ride back to the hotel. "Do Louis and Kiefer know about the Styles situation?" We both looked over to them, sandwiching the girl who was fast asleep on Louis shoulder. Today, they weren't peering and watching over her every move. Instead, they were glaring at Harry driving in a similar fashion. They were more alike than they knew.
Niall shook his head. "Not that I know of," he said. We pulled over at the hotel and Lou shook the girl awake. The moment she stepped out of the vehicle, Harry bustled to her but she pushed him away like what she'd been doing all day. She was taking it surprisingly well, though. If someone had done that to me, I'd've smacked his jaw the second I found out.
As I've said about her before, she was stronger than she knew she was capable of being.
"Hey, Zayn," Harry whispered to me, eyeing the girl's brother and Louis as he spoke. "Can you get those two away from Kloe?" He bobbed his head towards them as they practically bore holes into Harry's face. "I need to get her alone."
"Yeah," I said sarcastically. "Fat chance, mate." I moved to the corner of the lift so he wouldn't ask me any foolish requests again before I'd completely lose it. Instead, Niall and I passed them onto Liam. Poor, poor Liam, not in on our circle of secrets. He was the only one smart enough to not get too attached to the girl and now he's being tortured by none other than Harry Styles where the entire world revolves around.
"Okay," the girl began to speak, unenthusiastic and underwhelmed, unlike her usual flamboyant self when talking about our little scheme. "Little Mix is having their last show in Nevada tomorrow. Word on the street is that they're celebrating at Club Hopeless later that night. You guys are gonna have to be on your own there."
We all pretty much knew why: lifetime sentence out of clubs. I didn't really know her parents all too well but I wouldn't recommend her going in clubs either. Much too risky even for us, but I was willing to take the plunge to be able to meet up with Perrie, although our "meet up" really meant an ambush but same difference.
I recalled what the girl said Leigh-Anne told her about Perrie, about having to write a letter. I had written a song, a lot actually, but only one of them that I felt truly confident about. I knew it wasn't perfect--it had flaws here and then but that's what made it so special: that I loved it, all of it, not despite the errors but with the errors. Mistakes are what made it what it was.
"Bet we all know the reason," Harry pompously side-commented. "Ain't that right my promiscuous courtesan?" The whole lot of us, even Liam, shot him a deadly look that he didn't seem to notice because of the girl. She had thrown on her hood and walked out the door, closing it shut behind her.
Niall hit Harry hard on the knee. "What the hell was that?" He rebuked at Harry. "You could be such a fuckface wanker sometimes, you know that?" Niall rolled his eyes and groaned as Harry was left to wonder.
"The hell did I do?" Harry asked and even had the nerve to laugh at us. "What in bloody's name is going on?" When no one answered him after he stared down at each and every one of us, none of us catching his eye, he stood up and ran after the girl. "Ah, fuck," he swore under his breath as he grabbed his jacket and went.
Of course, Louis and Kiefer both got up from their seats to run after him but, surprisingly, Niall stopped both of them. "Cut the crap, Niall, we gotta go after them," Louis snapped at him although not making an effort to run out the door.
