Horn on the Wheel

We were on the road, us five boys. Just us lads without the girl or her sister or Castle or the management. It was us, having the time of our lives doing what we love. The happiness came to an end after we realized that we haven't moved from our spot in the road in the past fifteen minutes. Paranoid, I checked my watch to see that it was already past 9.

I cursed loudly, hoping that nobody would hear us from outside. Niall, who was driving, honked the horn impertinently, not giving a damn if the other drivers and passengers got narked by his single constant honk. After a good two minutes, Liam was able to calm him down enough to release his hand from the horn on the wheel.

"Okay, everybody remain composed," Liam attempted to keep us sane but it was hard to when other people kept honking their horns repeatedly as if it would let the traffic through.

"Yeah!" Louis enthusiastically agreed, trying to keep our hopes up. "This could be worse, you know."

"Really?" I asked, trying not to sound like I was piercing him through my words but it didn't come out quite how I intended it to. It was raining much harder than yesterday and the claps of thunder set the cars' alarms off. The lightning had struck the building next to us which had us screaming for dear life. The girl was left in the Louis' hotel room with Eleanor and Perrie was probably kissing in the rain with some wanker who got her pissed at the club. "How?"

"Well, if we don't make it to the club," Louis sounded pip, "There's always the girls from Fifth Harmony."

Before I could even get mad at him for even thinking that the girls from Fifth Harmony could actually compare to Perrie, a deafening roar of thunder made us all yell yet again. I caught a few weirded out glimpses from the cars next to us. "Okay!" Niall shrieked, too shrill even for him. "I'm not taking this anymore!" Unhinged, he parked the car, half on the sidewalk, half of the edge of the road.

Without even checking if it was allowed, Niall pulled the keys out of the ignition and we exited the vehicle, making a run of it on the sidewalk. I was ahead of the rest of them, not wanting to wait a second longer to see Perrie. My beautiful Pez. It was hard to believe that I once held her in my arms and felt her kiss and had her hand squeezing my shoulder to comfort me.

I needed that now more than ever.

The rain was stronger than Liam's voice and puddles were deeper than Harry's. All our trousers were six inches deep in mud and the product on our hair had washed off completely. I had a feeling we would all be feeling under the weather tomorrow which was fine, just as long as Perrie was there to rush to my aid, to keep watch of my medicine schedules, to feel my neck if I was warm and to kiss my forehead for me to get well soon.

That was the only thing I longed for in this whole gosh darn world.

About halfway there, Harry slipped on the pavement. Instead of helping him up, Niall laughed while he was on the ground. I'm sure he meant no harm but Liam still shot him a nasty look, protective of his "little brother." Harry's curls, which usually stuck up in ways that defied gravity, now hung limp and lifeless over his face. He brushed it away from his face with his fingers and looked up to see a clear view of a hand offering help.

Much to his surprise, it was Louis lending a hand to him. At first, Harry blinked in confusion as to why Louis would do it. "Oh for goodness sakes," Louis groaned, rolling his eyes. "Just grab my hand and we can get this over with." With a grin across his face, he clasped Lou's wrist and Louis pulled him up back to his feet. It was nice to see that the two ol' buddies were best mates again after their momentary casualty.

It was evident that some fans had noticed us running but we were too quick for them to catch up. I hoped with all my gut that they didn't have a hunch as to where we were off to and why were in such a rush. If they did and Little Mix would hear about it (because inexactitude travels with that much velocity around here), Perrie would get a heads up about us.
