"Alright, everybody, settle down," Zayn raised his voice through the noisy crowd as he tapped a wine glass with a metal spoon. He looked nothing less of flawless gorgeous in his dapper suit and tie. All eyes turned to him as he put down his glass filled with sparkling wine. I could feel him getting nervous and I almost saw the shivers running down his spine.
Zayn hadn't changed one bit. He smiled at the ground before he let anything stupid release from his mouth. "I'd like to split this toast into three parts," he began. "First, to Perrie." There were cheers from the crowd in the room, including myself. Perrie, whose hair was now platinum blonde once again, was having fits of giggles as she blushed in embarrassment. She looked absolutely stunning in the white, floor-length gown that must've cost them a fortune.
"The woman who vowed to stay with me 'till death despite all the mistakes I have made in the past," Zayn continued, staring right into Perrie's beautiful, irresistible eyes. "I promise you, Perrie, that the mistakes I make as a married man, we'll make together." We laughed at what he had just said. He leaned down to give his new wife, Perrie, a peck on the lips before getting back to the speech.
"The next part is for my bandmates," his smile grew even bigger. I spotted Harry shyly blushing next to me, his dimples revealing as he looked down at his feet. I slipped my hand into his and squeezed it. This was gonna be good. "To Harry, Niall and Liam, the best ushers and groomsmen a lad could ask for and to Louis, my best man."
Harry craned his head up to get a good look at Zayn whose table wasn't far from ours. Zayn gave him a half-smirk before going on with his speech. "And lastly, this toast goes to Kloe Sutherland." I gasped and widened my eyes at Zayn. That was embarrassing. My brother, who was sitting on the table behind ours, tapped me on the shoulder and raised an eyebrow at me. I just shrugged.
From the other side of me, Niall squeezed my arm. I turned and saw that his suit wasn't black like the others'. It was more of gray but he still looked just as perfect. "Kloe, here, is the bravest girl I ever knew. She is stronger than she thinks and she's also so painfully stubborn." I scoffed and shook my head. Zayn looked square at me, grinning like a dork. "But if it weren't for her courage, her strength and her stubbornness, she wouldn't have brought me back to Perrie."
My breath had literally been taken away from me. My heart had stopped beating and my lungs collapsed into oblivion. Zayn raised his champagne flute for all of us to see and we followed suit, raising our glasses high up. "To my love," Zayn announced, "To all the laughs and the crazy moments. And to the reason why we're all here today." There wasn't a single person on our table who wasn't tearing up from his wedding speech. "Cheers," he finally concluded.
"Cheers!" We all shouted in unison. Harry grabbed me by the shoulder and pulled me in for a half-hug as I laughed and teared up at the same time. He pressed his soft lips on the side of my head and we clinked glasses. I clinked glasses with Liam from across the table and with Louis who had a corsage pinned to his blazer. My glass and Eleanor's glass tapped together before I stood straight again, clinking glasses with Niall.
"I find it highly unfair that you get a solo part of the toast and the five of us get just one," Niall complained although still smiling like the sun had always shone on him.
It was early in the autumn here in London. Almost a year had passed since the incident at the club and since then, so much yet so little had changed. They were still themselves: the biggest boyband in the world and the biggest idiots in my life. I moved out of my parents' house six months after they had left Las Vegas. I now lived with Kiefer so I could see the lads every time they had a case and needed their lawyer.
Zayn walked over to us, a genuine smile permanently plastered onto his face. "How're you lads doing back here?" He asked us. We all exchanged evil glances with each other before attacking Zayn. Louis was holding him by the neck and rubbing his fist on top if Zayn's head, messing up his perfectly quaffed hair that Lou Teasdale must have taken hours to fix. I hugged him from behind as Niall tickled his ribs and Harry and Liam were playing with his face.
"Make sure you're the best man for my wedding!" Louis shrieked, referring to his wedding with his fiancé, Eleanor. They were scheduled to be married by the winter sometime near Christmas.
"I deserved to be the best man!" Liam joked as he pinched Zayn's cheeks.
"You've gained weight since I last saw you!" I told him, laughing my ass off with these boys. Zayn managed to pry me off his body and wedge out the other lads as well. We were all still laughing once we stopped, even Zayn whose hair was now a complete and utter mess thanks to Louis.
Zayn fixed his hair a bit before starting a civilized conversation with us. "Kloe," he smiled at me and I smiled back, silently wondering if my hair was as messed up as his then realizing that I really didn't care how I looked when I was with them. "How was life since we last saw you?"
"Well, I'm studying again," I told him. "At Uni where my brother is paying for my tuition."
"Because she refused to make me pay," Harry butted in the conversation. His hair was quiffed the way I liked it.
"What's your course?" Zayn asked me, ignoring Harry.
A smile grew on my face even wider than the one before. "Piloting," I answered. "So I could finally fly freely without Harry having to worry about me." Harry's hand found mine and I laced my fingers in the spaces in his. I could feel the love in the warmth flooding through out fingertips. It was electrifying.
The room where the wedding reception was held was noisy but I couldn't hear a thing. All I saw were these five lads that have made my life unbelievably incredible yet made me want to set myself on fire at the same time. All I could hear was the heart-warming sound of our laughter and all of our hearts beating in a choir. All I could feel was the love spreading like a virus through the air. It was a wonderful feeling, to love and be loved by them.
These times were great but no matter what happens or what else might come our way, nothing could ever compare to the days we spent rebuilding Zerrie and how if I had to do it all over again, I would.
