Damon's POV
"Elena?!" I gasped
"Damon!" She looked up to me and jumped out of the bed and into my arms.
"Elena how are you alive right now?"
I couldn't believe I had finally gotten my wish. I had her back in my arms. Maybe God was real.
"I-I drank your blood less than 24 hours before klaus killed me."
The joy suddenly left the room as every body fell silent.
"You're... in transition?" Jeremy asked, already knowing the answer.
Elena was sitting on my lap as we both sat on the bed. She quickly got up and started pacing the room.
"I can't become a vampire. I can't it's too soon." She ran her hand through her hair and didn't stop pacing for a second. Her eyes were on the floor and the panic was evident on her face. I got up slowly from the bed and walked closer to her.
"Elena, listen to me. Your going to be alright."
"Damon?" She continued with a shocked look on her face "Klaus... He compelled you. You don't love me anymore."
Tears started trickling out of her eyes. She backed away from me and into the wall. I continued to get closer.
"Stay away from me! You watched him kill me. You didn't stop him Damon! You were supposed to save me." She cried.
"I remember now" I said with outstretched arms "I still love you. Elena please let me help you." I begged.
I could see her look up from underneath her dark, wet lashes. She didn't believe me. Everyone's eyes were on me and nobody was breathing a word. I got close enough so that I could touch her face. When my fingers made contact with the soft skin she jerked her head to the side. She started punching my chest so I grabbed her wrists and pulled her close.
"Are you done?" I whispered as I held her with one arm and patted her hair with the other.
"I'm sorry Damon." She said into my chest "I'm okay now. I promise."
Her hands pushed away from my chest and she looked at her friend sand family sadly. First at Alaric, then at Bonnie, then finally Jeremy. The tears never stopped rolling down her face as she spoke.
"Guys can I have a minute alone with Damon?"
They all nodded and rushed out of the room. She turned to me and slowly looked up to me.
"I remember everything." She said quietly, returning her gaze to the floor.
"Oh" was all I could think to say.
"I remember that I met you first." She continued "and that you told me you loved me before."
"I'm sorry I compelled you."
"How could you make me forget that Damon?"
I didn't know what to say. How to answer.
"Elena there is a bigger problem right now" I said in a more confident tone.
She turned her back on me and walked to sit on the edge of the bed.
"I'll do it." She stated, her voice unwavering.
I sat beside her quietly and choose my next words carefully.
"You know how bad I want you to turn, but are you sure your ready for this?"
"I can't wait till I'm ready. I have to be ready now."

Elena's POV
I looked up into his sympathetic eyes and I saw how guilty he felt. My hand gently cupped his cheek and I felt his jaw harden. I gazed into his eyes that were apologizing to me without words.
"You know it's not you fault right?" I waited for an answer but he stayed silent.
"You couldn't have saved me. I shouldn't have said what I did before. I don't blame you for any of it. If it weren't for you I wouldn't be here right now."
His gaze traveled down to the floor as I spoke. I didn't know what else to tell him so I stood up and walked over to the door.
"Where are you going?" He asked, sounding more like himself again.
I breathed in deeply and said "I've got to feed."
"This should be fun" he said with a cocky smirk as he passed me and walked downstairs.
Everyone was waiting for us when we walked into the living room.
"You okay?" Jeremy asked while walking up to hug me. When he got close I could hear and smell the blood pumping through his veins. The only thing I could think about was blood. I pushed Jeremy away from me and looked over to Damon.
"We need to go. NOW." I said before running out the door with Damon hot on my tracks.
