I woke to the sound of glass clacking. Looking over I saw the elder Salvatore filling a cup with bourbon. I yawned and sat up.
"Hey" he said with a sad smile as he walked over to me.
"Hey." I answered back. I began to recollect my thoughts and remembered what had happened last night. Oh crap.
"Where's Stefan?" I asked curiously.
"Went to visit Caroline."
"Oh" I didn't know what else to say. The whole situation felt awkward.
"I'm gonna go clean up."
He nodded and I rushed upstairs to Damon's bedroom. I don't know why, but lately I had been going to Damon's bedroom instead of Stefan's, simply out of habit. I showered and followed my daily routine. I didn't have anything but a pair of jeans and a pair of underwear in Stefan's room, so I grabbed a black t-shirt from Damon's closet and ran down the hall. Stefan's still didn't feel like home the way it used to. I don't even know if he stayed here last night. I found a pair of underwear and a pair of jeans from my drawer that used to be full of clothes. After a while I just stopped bringing clothes to put back in there. I threw my hair into a topnot and went downstairs to see Damon sitting peacefully on the couch. He had a book in one hand and bourbon in the other.
"Ready to go?" He asked without looking up.
"Go where?"
"I told Jeremy and Ric I'd bring you over once you were ready." Finishing his sentence he looked up at me. His eyes traveled up and down my body.
"Nice shirt" he said with a smirk as he set the book down.
"I didn't have any other clothes here." I said honestly.
"Mhm" was all I got in response.
I sighed and went to the door to slide some shoes on when I began to feel the burning in my throat increase.
"Damon, I need blood before we leave."
He was beside me in a flash holding a blood bag. I snatched it from his hands and gulped it within seconds.
" thank you" I said breathlessly. Sometimes the pain would be more of a discomfort, but other times it felt like someone was sticking a hot iron rod into my throat. It was so easy to loose control. My thoughts were bombarded by Stefan who walked through the door with Caroline. We all greeted each other and Caroline pulled me into a hug.
"We're going over to Jer's...well, my house. Wanta come?" I asked the two of them. Stefan nodded and so did Caroline. I couldn't help but wonder if something more was going on between them.
Within minutes we were sitting in the driveway to my house. I yawned deeply and stepped out onto the pavement. As soon as I saw Jeremy in the door way, I instantly felt guilty for ditching them. I pulled Jer into a tight hug and whispered into his ear.
"I'm sorry Jeremy. I honestly am."
"It's okay" he answered with little emotion.
I released him and looked at the bunch. When I didn't see Damon I swung my head around until I saw him standing behind me. I let out a breath that I didn't even realize I was holding.
"Stefan?! When did you get back?" Jeremy asked, astonished.
"Yesterday." He answered coolly.
"So klaus just let you go?" Ric asked.
"He said he didn't need me anymore."
Something about the situation didn't add up.
"And we're supposed to trust you? What if you're still helping him." I spoke quietly while I tried to restrain from looking into the younger Salvatore's eyes. I knew I'd only see hurt.
"None of you have any reason to trust me right now, but I swear Klaus has no control over me right now." I could hear the soft tone of his voice that was begging us to forgive him. Even if I did, we could never go back to how things used to be.
