Chapter 54

Elizabeth's P.O.V...

"Hurry up! We're gonna be fucking late to her graduation, Niall!" I screamed at him. Henry walked into our room. "Mommy! Is this appropriate?" He asked. He's 12. "Yes! Thank you. At least someone is ready to leave. Is everyone else there already?" I asked him. He nodded and shook his head, right after. "No, Uncle Josh and Joshlene and Jessica are waiting downstairs." He said. I fix Niall's tie and look at myself in the mirror. Black dresses are appropriate for any occasion. Don't judge.

"Mom! Are you r- damn. You look really nice." Abigail said, looking at me. I smiled. "Thank you baby. You look gorgeous. Can you start the car?" I asked. She nodded and walked out. "Wait! Come back!" I screamed. I'm getting too old to scream. She came back and I pulled out my phone. "Let's take a family selfie really quick." I said. We all gathered behind the phone and smiled. I snapped the picture. She ran out, after. Fuck, I'm gonna cry.

"Let's go!" I said, excitedly. Niall took my hand and we walked out. Henry kept glancing at us. "Is there something you wanna say, kiddo?" Niall asked. He shrugged. "J family, it's time to go!" I said. We got in our cars. Niall pulled out of the driveway. "I love you, Abigail." He said to her. I looked at the back, as she smiled. "I love you too, daddy." Henry lied his head on her arm. "You made it really far. I am very proud of you. Abigail, this will be the next huge step of your life. You're going to find more of the world. And whatever happens, your mother and I will always have your back. You know that, right? So, if there's any troubles at all, call us." He said, as his eyes got watery.

"Dad! Don't cry. I'm not moving out yet. I still need to get my diploma and wait till college starts. I love you. And I know I can count on you both." She said. "And, you have me too, Abby." Henry says. I hear her laugh. "I know, bro bro. Thank you." She says. Niall's already crying. Shit. "Niall, stop! The graduation hasn't even started. I don't wanna cry right now."

"Dad, you once told me, it doesn't matter how far someone is physically, but how far they are from your heart. And I'll always be there." She says. I raise my eyebrows. "And why did he tell you this?" I asked, interested. He wipes his eyes. "No reason. Just future advice. Ya know?" He says. Yeah right. "I'd rather have him tell you, in private." Henry tapped my shoulder. "Yes Henry?" I asked. "Mommy, you're close to my heart." He says. I smiled. "And you're close to my heart, baby." I said.

"Mom?" Abigail asks. I turn my head to her. I gave her a questioning look. "Mom, I love...you." She said. Oh no. Not her. "Don't cry! Abigail, you'll ruin your makeup. Let's cry later. Right now, suck it up. You can tell me this later. This is your moment. You're gonna shine. I love you too, though."  I said, trying to make her laugh, even if almost everything I said wasn't funny.

"Tell me a quick story." She said. I looked at Niall. "Okay, well, once, there was a girl. That girl was me, by the way. And well, we, Niall and I, went to places. And once, we were at the park. It was our first date I believe. So we were at the park and Uncle Louis didn't like that we were together. Anyway, there was sprinklers on, so we got in them and I ended up sick. Haha. It was funny. I don't know."

"Lame! Why? Why would you take her on a date and get her sick?" Abigail asks. Niall gasps. "It wasn't my fault. She suggested it, if I recall." He defends himself. I look at Henry. He's looking at a tiny paper, not that tiny but, it's small. "Whatcha got there, Henry?" I asked. He looks up at me and quickly hides the paper in his pocket.

"Nothing." He says. Mysterious child. "Henry! Let's take a selfie." Abigail said. He nodded. I turned back to Niall. He was pulling into a parking lot. "Abigail, how much time do you have before you go to your place?" I asked her. I got off the car. "Umm..20 minutes!" She yells, getting out of the car. Henry got off and wrapped his arms around her. Niall got off and came over to the right side. "Give me a hug, Abby." He said, opening his arms. Henry let go of her. She hugged Niall tightly. "I love you, baby girl." He says. They're still hugging so I snap a picture of them. "Dad, can we talk like a little far away from here?" She asks, he nods. They walk a few cars away.
