Erica fell asleep in no time and Aeron and I were soon the only ones awake. I decided to take advantage of the opportunity.
"Aeron, how long have you known Erica?" I asked.
"How could you tell that we know each other?" he said, his expression startled.
"Just a hunch." I shrugged.
He chuckled and moved to sit across from me. "We met last year."
"What happened between you two?" I said."We dated until I found out that she's bisexual. I was a jerk back then so I couldn't handle it. It was gross to me so I left her," he explained.
I blinked before saying, "I get why she hates you."
"I'm different now. I'm okay with the fact that she's like that. I don't know if I could date her again and she's more into girls right now anyway. But I still care about her and I want to be her friend," he said.
"Then talk to her," I said. "I doubt she even knows you feel this way."
"All right, I will. Thank you," Aeron said, placing a hand on my knee.I stared down at his hand on me in the dark. Then my eyes travelled up to his face and I quickly remembered how attractive he was. I had to restrain myself from anything now that I knew of his past. I didn't think Erica would be okay with me throwing myself on her ex.
"Maddison?" Aeron said, interrupting my reverie.
"Yeah?"
He moved closer, his warm hand sliding up my thigh. Firstly, he was getting ahead of himself. Secondly, this wasn't the time. His face hovered inches from mine.
"I guess this ruins any chances between us, huh?" he whispered suggestively.
"Aeron..." I said. "I don't think Erica would like this."
"She's asleep," he reasoned and brushed his lips close to mine.
I gently, though rather grudgingly, pushed Aeron away. It was easy to want him. But I couldn't let myself do that. I barely knew him.
"Go to sleep, Aeron," I said firmly.
And he was gone.^^^
