It's funny, I thought I was in love before. But the truth is, I didn't know what love was until I met you.
(What I'm listening to: You're So Creepy -- Ghost Town)

"Maya, wake up. We have to go."
My eyes slowly open, and I blink in the sudden, harsh sunlight. Riley is standing over me, a slight frown on her lips. Still half asleep, I ask groggily, "Why?"
"I'll explain on the way out, babe, you're not even awake yet."
The sunlight outside the shelter is even brighter than what was coming through the windows, and I worry for a moment that I might go blind. As we walk down the sidewalk, Riley explains to me why we had to start moving so early in the morning -- although, now being fully awake, I could've told her everything myself. But I listen anyway, just because it's Riley talking.
We have to leave town, it's really the only logical thing to do. I know, I know -- "Maya, you've run away a million times and never once skipped town." That's because I was afraid. But now that I have Riley Matthews by my side, I feel almost invincible.
Seeing as Riley lived on the edge of town, it didn't take long to get to the next town over. Once we were there, I felt like we were free, like I could run down the street with Riley without worrying about being caught.
But sadly, the truth of the matter is, Riley and I will have to go much further than the-next-town-over if we want to truly escape to freedom. I'm sure her parents will have the police tracking us, especially considering it was yours truly, the Escape Artist herself, their daughter ran away with.
By dinner time, we're in a town only Riley has been to, and we stop at a small diner before checking in to a motel. We try and spend as little as possible, as the money Riley has (once savings for God-knows-what) won't last us forever.
Riley, not used to walking so much like I am, flops onto the bed face-down as soon as we get inside our room.
I laugh a little, sitting on the edge and flipping on the television. Not finding anything good to watch on the crappy TV, I turn it back off with a sigh and turn around. Riley is on her back now, watching me with curious brown eyes.
I raise an eyebrow at her, and she opens her arms toward me with a slight pout on her lips. Laughing at her adorableness, I crawl over and lie next to her.
I quickly fall asleep to the sound of Riley's heartbeat, her hand held tightly in mine.

What do ya know, more cute love stuff.
