Mom forced me to bring my friends to the beach.
She implied "The more the merrier." As she places a blanket on the white sand.
So I brought Marianne and Mylene, my two best friends.
I have noticed it now that our names are starting with M. That's funny!
I called Marianne not too long ago.
"Mylene we have to go to sunshine beach. Now! " I hear Marianne on the other end of the phone.
Marianne is the same age as me while Mylene is younger in two years.
Her footsteps echoed as she goes upstairs to Mylene's room. A voice shouts back, "No. I have to watch the next episode of supernaturals!"
"Open this door. Would ya?" Marianne stated. I could imagine her tapping her foot impatiently. "It's starting! Wait there for an hour or so." Mylene gushed excitedly.
A huge explosion coming from my speaker erupted. I had to take the phone away from my ear.
"If you won't open this fvcking door! I will kick it until it fvcking breaks and drag your tiny ass out here!" She banged her hands on Mylene's room. Marianne can be a very abusive person if she wants to.
"Fine!Just don't break the stupid door! I'll be there in a minute. God! Why do you have to be so brutal and annoying." Mylene must be scrambling to her feet. Poor her.
"You better be." Marianne mumbled. I laughed at her retort.
"I think I've heard enough. My ears are bleeding and I need medical attention right now." I say on the phone.
"Haha very funny, Melissa. I'll text you when we get there. Bye."
"Bye." She hanged up.
They have arrived moments after, already wearing their swimsuits.
"Marianne. Mylene. Glad you could join us." Mom stood up from the blanket to hug them both.
"Hey Mrs. Johnson. Of course we would join. We are part of your family, right?" Marianne winks. Mom laughed.
"Besides we can't refuse an invitation with such delicious viands that is made by you. And also your delicious-looking son." Marianne whispered the last sentence but enough for me to hear.
I rolled my eyes at her.
My older brother not younger. I won't let them have my baby brother!
They sat down next to me. "Hey stranger!" They greeted. I only stuck my tongue at them.
Mylene laughed.
I watch Denis who was already in the water with Dominic.
His baby laugh was so cute and loud that girls stared at them and at Dominic looking at his body while licking their lips.
Dominic turned his way to them, winks back.
They giggled like dolphins.
Ugh gross.
I have no intention in seeing that.
I looked away and to my best friends who were devouring the food.
Atleast they're devouring the food not my brother. I cringed at the thought.
I snatch it from their grasp and place it beside me where they can't reach it.
Mylene pouted while Marianne frowned.
"Is that how you treat a guest? Taking their food away?"
Marianne furrowed her eyebrows, displeased.
"I thought we were your best friends? How could you?!" Mylene utter, exaggeratedly.
"No. that's not how I treat guests. I only treat best friends like that." I say as I leave them behind and walk towards the water.
Putting a foot just to make sure that it's not cold or I'll be freezing like a cat that took a bath.
However, before I could place my whole foot, someone bumped into me, making me fall face-first on the water. The water was freezing.
I shivered.
My mouth opened ready to yell my lungs out at the person when a hand stuck in my line of sight.
I followed the hand where it was connected.
To the arm then to the shoulders then to the neck then to face. I freeze once my eyes reached his face.
All I can say is wow.
I gaze in awe at his eyes.
They were blue just like mine, his were a darker shade of blue like the ocean.
"You okay?" His lips move as he speak.
They were a color of
pink. What would it feel like to touch them? They look soft and no sign of dryness in them.
The lips I was gawking at moved and formed a heart-melting smile.
My heart skipped a beat.
I forgot he asked me a question. "Yes. Sorry. I'm fine." I looked at the water below me, embarrassed. The wave sway away from us.
I wish I was like the wave that can just float away from embarrassment even though waves can't be embarrassed.
A chuckle emit from the boy in front of me. "No need to be embarrassed. I get that all the time." He settled down in front, letting me see his glorious face.
"Sure you do." I mumbled.
He laughed making his chest vibrate. "What is your name, sweetheart?" He called me Sweetheart? Butterflies exploded in my stomach.
I know that I shouldn't tell strangers my name but hey this is once in a lifetime experience for a boy to talk to me like this.
"M-Melissa." I blurt out. He smirked. "Melissa? That's a cute name for a cute girl." Warmth rose from my cheeks. "T-thank you."
"Melissa! Where have you been? Come on! We are playing volleyball." Marianne walks up to us.
The boy who was with me stood up at his full height. He was taller than Marianne even though she stood at the height of 5'7.
"See you later. Melissa." He says my name like it was important, his tongue rolls at the letter L in my name.
"Who was that?" Marianne asked, eyeing the boy as he walked away.
"I don't know." And I'm hoping I'd see him again.
