The bell rang indicating that the students should go to their classes.
After the talk with Blake I went back to the cafeteria, glad that the Marianne and my group were still around.
I was relieve I didn't see anybody coming towards me like a predator.
They must have thought that I told Principal Parker about it already but I was debating if I should tell him because if I did, rumors will easily spread just like fire and when it does, the school would be closed down and I sincerely don't want to enroll to another school.
Since that incident with the bad guys I have sticked with Marianne-literally.
She would give me weird looks but never asked.
School pass by like any other day. Now that it was four in the afternoon, classes has ended, the hallway was again swarmed by students racing towards the school's entrance door.
I too was one of them, recalling that the bad guys must be here, ready to pounce on me.
One of my friends walked up to me. "Melissa, where are you going? I thought you said we would meet in the auditorium to talk about spring ball." I slap my face.
"Camille. Gosh! I'm sorry. I forgot."
"You never forget. Are you okay? You seem a bit pale. You don't have to go."she says, her voice full of concern.
Maybe I could just skip. Just this once.
"Yeah. I'm actually not feeling good. Thank you so much for understanding. Email me. Okay?" I hugged her. "No worries."
I left school with Mylene and Marianne for the fact that my phone was nowhere to be seen. And the use of my phone was to text mom to pick me up.
"It's a miracle that you did not join the meeting." Mylene's voice spoke in disbelief as she climbs in the passenger seat.
"You never skipped a meeting not even once." Marianne agreed.
I sighed.
I told them the same excuse I said to Camille.
They just nodded.
I did not tell them about the drug dealing I witnessed because they might get in trouble.
Marianne turns on the engine, making it vibrate under us.
We pulled out of the parking lot.
Small houses swarmed our vision when we retreated home.
We passed by bystanders leaning on a wall of a building, smoking what I think are weeds.
My heart bust loudly in my chest thinking about the two bad guys.
Who were they? I did not see their faces because of the darkness and the curtains covered the window, not letting even a small light in.
I hope they won't kidnap me.
I doubt the will. They are just kids, they won't know where I live and if they did well there's always 911.
A small raindrop hits the window glass. It glides down easily.
Another raindrop fell then followed by another until they covered the whole glass.
I watch the rain fall to the ground.
As we pass by a secluded place, I spot a person walking alone.
He was wearing our school uniform and a rimmed glass.
I recognized who he was.
Afraid of what might happen to him I yell, "Marianne stop the car!"
Startled by my outrage, she pressed the brake hard making us hit forward but no one got hurt.
I opened the car door. "Melissa! What the hell?" But I ignored her.
"Christian!" I shout. He spun his head at me in confusion.
"Umm. Hi Melissa. What are you doing here?" He looks me in the eye.
"I-I saw you walking alone and I was worried that you might get hurt." My voice trailing off.
He smirked. "You're afraid that I might get hurt by walking alone?" But his smirk turned into a small smile.
"Thanks, I guess." He scratched the back of his head. "Do you want to ride with us?" I say while motion my hands to the car behind.
Christian was quite for a while. "Guess so." He shrugs.
I escorted him to the car. Mylene and Marianne stared at me, weirdly. "Guys. This is Christian and he needs a ride home."
I sent Marianne a 'don't say no to me' look.
She rolled her eyes. "Hi! I'm Mylene and this is my sister Marianne." Mylene smiled, truthfully.
I opened the door to the back seat and climb in first then followed by Christian. "So where do you live, Christian?"
