"Thank you" I said suddenly. I hear a large bang and I jump, Michael then laughs.
"Relax its just the fireworks".
"Oh" I say shyly.
"Here" Michael take his hand out and offer it to me and I take it and we look out to the fireworks holding hands. It's true, I like fireworks but the banging sound does make me jump.
"You can be yourself around me Alyssa". I smile and look at him again. After the fireworks Michael and I walk back into the hall.
'Um, thank you for your jacket" I start to remove his jacket but he stops me.
"Nah you can keep it".
"Ah, but".
"just think of it a gift from to you".
"Okay thank you"
Just then Daniel comes running out to us.
"Alyssa!"
"Daniel what's up?" I say.
"Your father is looking for you he's not to happy about you turning down his man"
"Tell papa I'm not interested in his man or getting married. I'm still studying in university I want to finish school and then think about marriage".
"University?" Michael said behind me.
"Ah, you Michael right, Maria told me a lot about you"
Daniel shakes Michael's hand and by the way Maria is the name of Daniel's wife.
"Nice to meet you to, what's this about uni?"
"Oh, that's Alyssa she want to be a middle school teacher so she's studying at New York university"
"Ah Daniel!"
I'm so embarrassed Daniel was the only one who knew about that and now Michael does now he's gonna laugh at me for sure.
"Middle school teacher, interesting that's a perfect fit for you Alyssa"
"Huh?"
He just what.
"Ah I should get going my chénmò is probably worried about me congrats again Daniel and Alyssa I hope to see you very soon"
"Yeah I would like that".
Michael walks off.
"Ah, chénmò?"
"That means mom in Chinese" said Daniel.
