Winter

"Maiden's after Winter." Alex blurted. Mr. Jacobs swallowed hard.

"Maiden?" Mr. Jacobs asked. We nodded. "You know why?" I shook my head.

"Not a clue. That's why we came to you. We need your help." Mr. Jacobs nodded and looked at James.

"I never got your name." Mr. Jacobs asked James.

"This is James." Alex introduced. Mr. Jacobs nodded.

"What kind of Wizard are you?" He asked. I swallowed hard and looked at Alex. Alex went over to Mr. Jacobs and whispered something in his ear, then he looked at me.

"He's not a wizard?" Mr. Jacobs asked. We shook our heads. "If Miss Mayfield figures out, she'll take your wand and stall your powers for good."

"And she won't figure out if you help us out. Please Mr. Jacobs." I begged. He looked at James, then back at me.

"Okay, I'll help you." I sighed in relief and nodded.

"Thank you, Mr. Jacobs. Now. What do we need to know about Maiden?" I asked. Mr. Jacobs walked over to his desk and sat down. He pulled out a blank book, white cover, white pages. Everything is blank.

"Excuse me. But, what kind of Wizard are you?" James asked. Mr. Jacobs looked at James and smiled.

"I'm what you call, a Word Wizard." James looked at him weird. "I'm a rare type of Wizard. One in a million."

"But, what does a Word Wizard do?" James asked.

"I'll show you." Mr. Jacobs laughed. He looked at me. "You're damn lucky that I brought my book, Winter." I laughed too. Mr. Jacobs closed his eyes and put his hand about two inches above the book. He took a deep breath, then slammed his hand on the book.

All of a sudden, the book flashed like a match catching fire, then, the book had color. Mr. Jacobs opened his eyes and opened the book. I looked at James, who was staring at the book in amazement. Mr. Jacobs looked up at James.

"That's what I can do. I can get a plain book, think of something I want to read, and slap the life into the book." James smiled.

"That's really cool." James said. Mr. Jacobs laughed.

"Well, I may have a rare type of magic, but it's not the most useful."
