We drove down a gravel road for a while then we were at a clearing full of other cars. Then there was a deck and lots of people in lawn chairs, some people were in the water then I watched one person from across the lake jump off the ledge into the water.
Once we got parked I saw Kat wave at us and by the way she spilt some of her drink it was was clear that it wasn't her first beer.
"Jaycee someone wants to see you come here" she said motioning for Jaycee.
Jaycee looked at me and smiled, "go grab something to drink and I will be right back" then she ran to Kat and they went into a big crowd of girls.
I was gonna get something to drink but then I saw Bailey. So I walked over to her.
She smiled once she noticed I was heading towards her.
"Hey" she said, "when did you get here?"
"Just a few minutes ago"
"Ahh" her voice trailed off.
I gathered up the nerve, "Can I ask you something?"
"Anything"
"Okay" I sat down in a lawn chair next to her, "is it true what you were saying about Jaycee having a girlfriend?"
"Do you not trust her?" She asked.
My stomach knotted, "I do it's just that I haven't known her for long and I was just wondering sinc-"
She stopped me,
"Why don't you ask her? I would hate to tell you the truth and you get all sad and it be on me" she said.
Get all sad? So does that mean she does have a girlfriend.
I looked over to where Jaycee was and she was looking around and when he eyes met mine she smiled but as soon as she saw Bailey her smile faded. Then she said something to the person she was talking to and headed towards us.
"I should probably go" Bailey said then she got in the water and swam to a few girls on floats.
"What were you two talking about?" She said looking at Bailey swimming away then back at me.
"Nothing" I said.
She squatted down the put her hand on my knee, "What-were-you-two-talking-about?" She had never talked to me with that serious tone before.
Her eyes were staring into mine, "we were just talking about this place"
She looked like she didn't believe me for a minute then she smiled, "I'm sorry for acting so crazy Baby, it's just that I don't like her. She's not a good person and I don't like you talking to her."
I nodded.
She smiled and put her hand on my cheek, "you never got you a drink, how about you say we go do that?"
