Hey guys! I just wanted to say thank you for all the votes and comments- I never expected anyone to actually read this story and seeing all your thoughts on it is amazing!
Victor
I'm trying to compose a new song, but it's just not happening- none of the notes go together and my chords make no sense. Just as I'm about to call it quits for the day, someone knocks on my door. Not a gentle, polite knock but a pounding, violent cacophony of sound.
"Yes, Gabriel?" I call out. Gabe opens up the door and steps in looking flabbergasted.
"How'd you know it was me?" he asks.
"You've knocked on doors like that for as long as I've known you- you really think that I wouldn't recognize the sound one more time? What do you want?" I reply, chuckling at his wide eyes. It seems Gabe has an important mission, though, because he quickly pulls himself together.
"We need to go shopping!" he exclaims. I can't help the groan at the thought of shopping with him again.
"We just went shopping last week! What more could you possible need?" I say. Gabe's happy smile turns somber as he explains:
"Sang looked so upset at practice last night, and I think that she needs a distraction. What better distraction is there than shopping?"
I stare at Gabe in disbelief and he quickly amends his statement, "What better distraction is there for high schoolers than shopping?"
I nod in agreement. Even if Gabe's reasoning is sound, I still can't help but poke fun at him a bit. "Besides, you've been wanting to take Sang shopping ever since you first saw her." I say jokingly.
"All she has is athletic clothes! And she won't let me wash her hair!" Gabe whines. I smirk at his plaintive expression.
"Why would she have needed any clothes besides ones for synchro? And she barely knows you; it would be creepy for you to wash her hair." I tell him. Gabe opens his mouth to reply, but suddenly the door to my room is filled by North.
"I heard you guys talking about shopping." he says.
"Yes..." Gabe looks at him warily. North's body language is so un-North like right now that I can't help but be wary, too.
"Can I come with you?" North asks. Gabe looks stunned, and I wish that I was recording this moment to show the rest of the guys.
"Why? I mean, you're welcome to come, but you don't normally like shopping." Gabe splutters out as he tries to avoid offending North.
"Erhm, I um... I need new goggles." North mutters. Gabe cracks an evil looking smile.
"What, I didn't hear you properly." he says.
"I believe that North said he needs new goggles." I chime in. I can see where this is going, and I can't believe that North is smitten enough over a girl to want to go shopping with her!
"So North," Gabe says, causing North gulps as he realizes that we have him figured out, "Are you sure you don't want to come shopping because a certain Sang Sorenson is coming?"
"Where am I going?" a small voice asks from the hallway. Whoops! Is everyone in the hallway today?
"Hi Sang, we were just wondering if you wanted to come shopping with us." Gabe tells her smoothly. North looks relieved to be out of the hot seat.
