For the first time, Chara knew what it was like to be betrayed. For the first time he experienced a heartbreak, a disappointment in love. Although it was Amy who invited him to go to the park, she blamed him and invented a story about Chara forcing her to hang out with him, making him look bad. Amy didn't notify her parents about taking a friend to the park, so when her worried mother came to take her home she invented a story. Chara's caretaker arrived together with Amy's mother. She grabbed Chara's arm and took him back to the orphanage. He knew that he was about to get the punishment of his lifetime.
At the orphanage, the caretaker dragged Chara to the main hall. Many kids and other caretakers were there. She called for everyone's attention. When the hall was totally silent she began her speech: "Thank you for your attention. You're about to see what happens to nasty little women exploiters." "But I didn't--" Chara protested.
"Shut it." she interrupted him.
She didn't ask about Chara's version of the story, she didn't question anything, she just assumed that Amy was telling the truth. She didn't give Chara the opportunity to explain himself. Another caretaker passed a heavy belt made of steel to the chef caretaker. "Take off your clothes" the caretaker commanded.
"I'm not taking off my clothes." Chara replied boldly. His expression was cold.
"I'm not repeating myself. Take off your clothes or I'll tear them off of you." she said.
Chara was wearing a green pullover which had one yellow stripe on it and brown pants. He didn't have much more clothes than this, and the caretakers wouldn't buy him other clothes. It was no use arguing, so he took off his pullover and violently threw it on the ground. "You're not done." the caretaker said. She was smiling a very disturbed and sadistic smile. Chara looked very enraged, like he would jump on her throat at any moment. He reluctantly unbuttoned his pants and lowered it until his feet. Then he just kicked it until it was totally off. He adopted a very cold expression, although he was filled with rage he was not going to show it. He wasn't going to show any emotions.
"Still not done, yet." she said. She was walking to the right and left behind Chara. He stared at her with a terrifying look, she wouldn't probably mess with him that way if he was an adult. That's all Chara wished for, to be an adult. But he wasn't, so he had to obey. Finally, he took his boxers off. "Kneel" the caretaker commanded.
And so he kneeled. He didn't change his posture nor his expression while kneeling. She started hitting him with the belt. At every hit the steel cut through his skin. Despite the pain he still didn't change his expression nor posture. He didn't lower his head. He had a very erect posture. It looked like he couldn't feel any of it. Some of the children started crying, some others closed their eyes upon this horrible scene. After 30 hits the punishment was over. Chara stood up and put on his pants. He stared a few seconds into the caretaker's eyes. Then he went upstairs. He didn't show up at the dinner and the caretakers also didn't check on him. For some reason Amy didn't come to school for the rest of the week. It was said that she was ill. The next week Amy showed up on Monday, but she didn't look at Chara once.
On Tuesday Chara had his weekly appointment at the psychologist. Chara let all of his steam off.
"THAT. LITTLE. BITCH!!! SHE'S GOING TO PAY FOR THIS. AND THAT FUCKING OLD HAG TOO. If I was an adult I would have taken this belt and hit her ugly face with it until there was nothing left." - he shouted. He was completely enraged, walking to the left and right.
"Chara, swearing and screaming are not going to solve your problems. Calm down and sit, right now or I'm going to end this appointment and send you back to the orphanage." Jessica said firmly. Chara had no choice but to sit.
"She betrayed me. She was nice to me and than she betrayed me!! How could she?! Why did I trust her in the first place?!" Chara started to cry. He felt like he had reached the very bottom of his life. Jessica went over to Chara and hugged him.
"Things are not going to stay like this." he whispered.
"Of course not. Your wounds will heal and you'll meet hundreds of other people, good and bad people. You're gonna grow and build your own family and you'll be able to prevent these things from happening." Jessica said
"No, I mean that she'll pay for this." Chara said
"Chara, please. Do not think of vengeance, this is going to make things even worse. There are nice people and there are people that are going to disappoint you. You're not the only one who has to go through these things. You need to show confidence and make new friends. Also, you shouldn't accept offers from a person that is obviously irresponsible. It was a risk from the beginning to just go to the park without notifying anyone."
"I doubt that her mom would hit her with A FUCKING BELT. She could've just told the truth. What would've happened? Would they have taken her Barbie away?!" Chara said still crying.
"Chara, language please. Also, we can't know everyone's reason for making bad choices. We're not in their mind. Just accept that not everyone is going to be good. But YOU can be, if you choose to. The problem is not the problem itself. The way we act about the problem is what really matters. If you make bad choices it's going to come back eventually. So please, think before acting."
"The problem is not the problem itself, WHAT?!" Chara said confused.
"You'll understand it with time" Jessica said, still hugging Chara tightly. Jessica, his psychologist was really the only friend he had. But he wouldn't take her advise.
The next day at school Chara stared at Amy in the classroom. He had a disturbing and threatening look. Amy looked back and caught sight of him. He kept staring. Amy started to feel uneasy. She looked forward to the teacher and didn't turn around again. At recess, when all the students were leaving the classroom, she dared to look back at Chara's table, but he had already left. During recess the school was almost totally empty because the students stayed outside, but Amy had to go inside in order to go to the bathroom. It was empty and her steps echoed in the corridors. Suddenly, Chara came out of one of the corridors and grabbed her. She wanted to scream but he had already covered her mouth. His grip was very strong. He dragged her to a tiny room that was filled with shelves, brooms and other cleaning stuff. He closed the door behind him.
"I'm sorry, please! I freaked out! I didn't mean to blame you, but my mom is very strict. Please Chara!" she begged
"Would she have hit you with a belt?" Chara asked
"What...? N-no, b-but..."
"Then you had no reason to lie" Chara turned around and slowly took of his pullover, revealing his back full of injures to Amy.
"Oh god... Chara.. I-I had no idea. I knew this place was bad.. B-But this?! I-I'm so sorry. Please, forgive me. I'm a horrible, person. I'm so sorry." she started crying.
"You better be.. wait.. why are you blushing?" - Chara asked confused.
"F-for no reason..."
"Whatever" Chara made his creepy face.
"You better be sorry, because the consequences for this are going to be dire." He came closer to Amy and started laughing. It was very disturbing. Amy was trembling, she screamed and dashed out of the room. Chara kept laughing very loudly. He couldn't hurt her. But he wanted to make her pay for what she'd done. However that scare he just gave her was worth something.
