Contempt was everything Chara felt. This feeling was familiar. He felt it before, but it used to be weaker. 4 years ago this feeling emerged inside of him when he experienced a tragedy. He saw his father stab his mother repeatedly at the age of 4.  The years living in the orphanage it made this feeling grow stronger. Jessica, his psychologist, was the only person who could make him feel positively. When she was nearby all of the negative feelings became weaker. They almost disappeared in the short amount of time when they lived together after she had adopted him. But now that she was gone this emotion possessed his whole mind. It was infected with hatred. There was now cold blood running through Chara's veins. These negative feelings became soon an ideology. This ideology only confirmed itself when reading the book History of the humans and monsters .

Chara believed in it. He wanted to believe in it no matter how absurd it sounded. This book was the perfect source to support his feeling and his ideology. If this was true he'd have a reason to despise the whole human race. It was easier this way. Instead of working on his recovery and finding the source of the problem inside of him he could simply blame everyone else. He could despise everyone else. It was the "proof" that Chara needed to convince himself that the problem was outside of him. That's what he wanted to believe. That the whole world was perverted and that no human being was worthy.

Year 150X

"Today is a glorious day, my friend."
"I suppose it is, your highness."
"HAHAHAHAHAH stop calling me your highness, silly! I'm not my dad!"
"B-but... *sigh* Fine, Asgore. It's kind of a habit."
"It sounds so dumb. I don't get why my dad liked to be called that way."
"Well, let's go to the main hall, we shouldn't let people waiting."
"Do you think she's already there? I-I'm so excited! I'm scared! I don't know what to feel!"

The servant was a human with blond hair and blue eyes. King Asgore Dreemurr, however, was not a human. He was a monster that looked like a goat. He had white fur, a little blond beard on his chin and vivid green eyes. His horns were big but he still looked very sympathetic.
Asgore was the ruler of a very happy city with human and monster inhabitants. The city from the neighbor kingdom was exactly the same, except that their king was a human.
Asgore had his coronation one week after his father died. One month later another special celebration took place, even more special than the coronation. It was Asgore's wedding.
The whole city stood anxiously before Asgore's castle, awaiting the bride. There was a very thin path between all the citizens through which the new queen would pass.
Somewhere inside the castle a goat girl was still getting ready for the wedding.

"You should wear this necklace! It looks gorgeous!" a human girl with dark brown hair and tanned skin said holding a red necklace in the air.
"No, it doesn't even fit the rest of the look. This one is white like the dress!" Another human girl said. She had light brown hair with braids. She held a pearled necklace in the air.
"Which one do you prefer?" They asked the monster girl. She looked at the mirror nervously. She put the veil, that was on top of her head, in front of her face.
"Toriel?"

"I think I'm ready." The goat girl said. Her human friends protested, insisting that she should choose a necklace but Toriel ran out of the room.

"Wait, Tori!" The girls put the necklaces aside and followed her.

Finally Toriel arrived. She stood before the thin path. At the end of it Asgore was awaiting. It was hard to read his expression from the distance. She found herself surrounded by the whole city. All the excited chitchat faded away. Now all eyes were on her. She seemed more apprehensive than excited. However her human friends were overjoyed.
She finally took her first step and kept walking slowly looking in all directions. She took a deep breath and looked directly to Asgore. After almost one minute they stood side by side. The human priest started his speech. After 15 minutes Asgore started to shake his leg nervously wondering when it would end. Toriel stood still, she almost looked like a doll. 30 minutes passed and it was finally over. He slowly lifted the veil attached to her crown revealing her very beautiful face. He was hypnotized by her red eyes. They nuzzled their noses. Suddenly earsplitting screams of happiness rang out. The whole city celebrated. Asgore started to jump happily and pulled Toriel to a dance.
The city celebrated the whole week nonstop. It was a great start for Toriel's life as part of the royal family. She never felt so welcomed. She was still adapting, it was the first time she was living away from her parents. Now she lived with her childhood friend. Asgore was a very fun and relaxed person. He didn't care about titles or privileges. His life became more difficult after his father's death. His mother died a long time ago and without Toriel he'd be alone. Luckily now they could care for each other.

The city calmed down after one week. It was a very beautiful day outside. Suddenly many carriages arrived in Asgore's city. Various monsters were practically kicked out of these carriages. The carriages took off and the monsters stood there, frightened.

"Asgore, Toriel, you need to come now, urgently!" the blond servant yelled when running into the throne room.
"What is it?" Toriel asked.
On the way the servant explained the situation to the royal couple. Asgore and Toriel were horrified.
"The king would never do that, I know him! He was my father's best friend! Why would he just start banning monsters?! It makes no sense!"
The servant told Asgore about the human king's death and that he was replaced by his son Phinneas. After a few seconds trying to accept the facts Asgore yelled:
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN?! Phinneas is not even the oldest!"
"Well, you know how the humans work..."

Asgore felt discomfort in his stomach. Toriel looked to the ground with a sad expression. Both of them knew Phinneas. He's always been very arrogant and boastful. His older sister was a lot nicer. But the humans had this, in Asgore's opinion, very stupid rule that only the male firstborn could assume the throne.
They managed to relocate the monsters to new homes. It was difficult to give homes to so many new monsters but neither Asgore nor Toriel would ever give up on other people's welfare.
A few hours later many big carriages arrived in the city. Human guards and officials came out of the carriages and knocked on the doors of the humans' households. Wondering what was going on, Asgore approached one of the officials.

"What the heck is going on here? What are you doing in my city?! First you ban your monster citizens and now you're bothering my human citizens?"
"These humans are not your citizens anymore. They belong to our kingdom"
"What?! What's that supposed to mean?"
"King Phinneas ordered us to pick up all the human civilians to live in his kingdom. If you tried to stop us he would come with his whole army. You wouldn't want that Asgore, would you? You know how powerful we are in comparison to your people."

Asgore looked at the official with disgust. But what he said was true. Humans were way more powerful than monsters. Asgore never cared about this but now, for the first time in his life, he wished to be more powerful to stop Phinneas' guards. He felt weak, like he had failed his people.
He watched hopelessly as his human citizens were taken away.
"You will always be my true King. Long live King Asgore!" He heard a human woman say before she was pushed by the officials towards the carriage.
"Thank you." He said silently.
