"HAHA, you should've seen her! She just screamed and ran away! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. She looked so desperate!" Chara couldn't stop laughing. He gave Amy a good scare as revenge. But it still wasn't enough. He wasn't satisfied. But there was nothing he could do. Jessica didn't like at all how Chara handled betrayal. He had lust for vengeance.
"Ok, now you need to focus on your recovery. You're still weak from all of your injures. Have you managed to treat your wounds? Have you taken antibiotics?"
"Do you really think the caretakers would care to take me to the hospital? HAHAHAHA SEE WHAT I JUST DID?!" - Chara said almost crying out of laughter. Jessica was not impressed. "They don't give half a fu..."
"Chara, this is serious. I'm worried about you." she interrupted before he could drop the f-bomb.
"You're probably the only one that worries about me. But don't worry, I'll be fine. I doesn't hurt anymore."
The next day, at school, Amy was looking very sad. All the sparkles in her eyes were gone. She would look back to Chara's place and almost cry. Chara was annoyed by it. It seemed like she was trying to draw attention to her. But why? She should be scared, Chara thought. When lessons were over Amy walked up to him with her mother. Chara was chocked. What the hell did she want?
"You're getting the punishment of your lifetime young lady! How could you just blame him this way?Poor thing!" the woman said.
"See Chara, I told her everything. Please forgive me." Amy looked at him with hope in her eyes. Chara didn't know how to react to this. She really wanted him to forgive her. But he couldn't say one single word.
"I ... uh... uhm.."
"Pleeease, forgive me! I even bought this chocolate bar for you! I know this won't make your wounds disappear. I feel like scum. I feel like it should've been me." Amy said.
"Amy, he has yet to decide if you really deserve forgiving. Chara darling, it's ok if you feel bad about her, but if you need anything just come talk to us."
Chara slowly took the chocolate bar. He said a very confused "Th-thank you." Amy then gave him a kiss on his cheeks, which made him feel good but still confused. He really didn't know if he should or not forgive her. But now he knew that she did feel bad about what she'd done. One part of him really wanted to forgive her while the other wanted to be very cautious.
Later in the orphanage he was walking around looking for new books in the library. At least he wasn't prohibited to go to the library. He was one of the very few children that would frequently go there. He picked up book by book in the shelves. One of them dropped to the ground. Right before he put it back he caught a glimpse of the title. "History of humans and monsters" it said. By that title it's probably a kids story he thought, but on the back cover there was a very sinister picture of what appeared to be a monster and a human side by side. It didn't look like it was a kids-story book. Chara stared at it for a few seconds, then he opened it. The book had no pictures at all, just text. It also didn't have the author's name in it. It didn't even have a summary. Right on the first page it was just text. He took the book with him to his room. He then started to read it.
"Once upon a time humans and monsters lived in peace on the surface. Both were intelligent and rational creatures but of a different species. Monsters came in various races, shapes, sizes and colors. Humans were a lot more similar to each other within their species. There were as much similarities as differences between monsters and humans. In this region of the country there were 2 different Kingdoms. Both of them had human and monster inhabitants. One of the kingdoms was rules by a human, the other by a monster."
The more Chara read this book, more it felt like there was truth behind these words. He had the odd feeling that this was real although it seemed totally absurd. The book sucked him in and he couldn't stop reading it. He even took it with him to school. Amy was sad that he wouldn't look over to her, he just kept his eyes on this book. What Chara felt for Amy was very strong before, but it seemed to have faded away. He was too young to feel such powerful feelings. Amy also did not really feel love. She felt more of a passion, a desire to possess him. But that's not what he wanted. With time Amy became really obnoxious and annoying. The feeling that Chara felt for Amy didn't survive it. He concentrated more on reading his new book which seemed to be more interesting than every other book he read in his life. The science teacher asked him to stop reading his book and pay attention to the classes. When the lessons were over he went back to the orphanage and continued reading the book. He had stopped at a new chapter. The chapter was called: "The war between humans ans monsters."
