Chapter 14

Alex POV

"Glad you can be here Mr. Bradley, I'm Mrs. Simring her homebase and social science teacher." Mrs said.

"Just call me Josh. Pleasure to meet you." Josh said as they shook hands.

"Mr. Hepner, her math and science teacher." Mr said and shook hands with Josh as well.

We then sat down and the teachers started talking.

"So we called you here today to discuss Alex's academics. She is at a first grade reading and math level. We are very concerned about that." Mrs started

"Did you know she was bellow grade level?" Mr asked Josh.

"No, i asked her if she went to school before. She just said her headmistress taught her. I never asked what though." Josh responded

"Ok. Well normally we would see what we could do to help her learn more easiest way possible based on old school records. But since she doesnt have any all we can do is see how she does the first couple weeks maybe 5. And help her based on that. But what we know now is that she doesnt learn easily if we tutor her because that's what we did when we first found out about this. Do you think there is anything else we could try maybe to help her?" Mr asked.

"Um no. Not really, i only adopted her a week ago. Im still learning about her as well." Josh answered.

"Ok. Alex, you arent comfortable with us helping you are you?" Mrs asked.

I shoock my head no.

"Is there anybody in class that you are comfortable with? Like any friends?" Mr asked.

"No, im still a little shy around my newly made friends, but im comfortable with Matthew." I answered.

Mr sighed. "But we cant just move you or him into the same class. Alex, this is the homework I assigned everyone. Can you look over it and tell me if you know anything on there?" Mr asked me putting a two page packet in front of me on the desk.

I looked at the packet. It was about the numbers with slashes in them.

I shook my head no.

"Ok. Josh, is there anybody at home that can help her with this? Maybe if someone she was comfortable with tutored her it will help her." Ms asked.

"Yes, her uncle was really good at math. He can help her." Josh said.

"Ok that's good. For now we will just wait 5 weeks and see if she improves or if she still needs help. That's all we needed to discuss, we have to head to a meeting now. It was nice meeting you, have a good rest of the day." Mrs said as her and Mr left the class room.

Josh and I got up and started to walk out the building. We both hopped in the car.

"Im sorry." I said once we both sat down.

Josh POV

"For what?"  i asked

"For making this harder on you."

"Its not your fault okay. You weren't getting taught what you were suppose to and you didnt know that." I said hoping it would make her feel better.

But she was still looking at her lap frowning.

"Tell you what. I remembered that we never showed you sweets. So lets go to the store, you can pick out what ever looks good to you. Then we can get Ice Cream. Okay?" I said.

She smiled and looked at me.

"Okay." She responded. I smiled back and started driving the car.

After about ten minutes we made it to the store. We walked in and i grabbed a push cart.

"Get in." I said to Alex and pointed at the pushcart.

She laughed and got in. I started to run to the candy isle. Alex got out her phone while laughing and started to snapchat it.

She got social media recently like Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat. The fans kept asking for it, so we thought why not.

By the time we got to the candy isle I was out of breath and Alex was in a fit of laughs.

"We were going at 1.5 mph!" Alex said while still laughing. I just laughed with her.

"Okay, so im just gonna push you down the isle. If you see anything you like just grab it." I said. She nodded and with that i started to walk down the isle while she started to grab candy.

We did the same with the chip isle.

In the end, she got (im just gonna name American candy and chips here now so sorry if they dont excit in the UK) Jolly Ranchers, Kit Kats, Skittles, Milk Duds, Hershey bar, Hot Cheetos, Hot Cheeto Fries, Chedder Sour Cream lays chips, and Doritos.

When we were paying for our stuff, the cashier gave us a weird look. The minute we were in the car, we burst out laughing.

"Ok, so Ice Cream now?" I asked once we stopped laughing.

"Yup!" she said popping the P

Once we got there, Alex instantly ran up to the building and walked in.

I laughed at her excitment for Ice Cream.

When I walked in I saw her looking at all the flavors.

"So, what do you want?" I asked her.

"I dont know? They all look good!" She said not taking her eyes off the flavors infront of her.

"Have you never had Ice Cream before?" The cashier asked her.

She shook her head no.

"Well, you can always try some if you'd like? I recommend Cookies n Cream or Cotton Candy." The cashier suggested.

"Can I try those then?" Alex asked.

"Sure!" he said and handed Alex two small spoons with the two flavors on them.

"So, have you decided yet Alex?" I asked once she was done trying some flavors.

"I dont know, I cant decide between Cookies n Cream and Cotton Candy." She said still thinking.

"Then how about you get both." I suggested.

"You can do that? Ok then." She said in shock.

I ordered our Ice Cream and waited. The cashier handed me the two cones. I handed Alex her's.

"How much?" I asked.

"Dont worry about it, its on the house. Especially if its her first time eating Ice Cream. I think she enjoys it." He said and pointed at Alex.

"Oh ok, thank you so much." I said.

He smiled at me and walked to the back.

"So, how do you like the Ice Cream?" I asked.

"This is the best thing ever! Next to Nandos of course"

Hey all you awesome sauce readers!

So im really sorry this is coming later on in the week than normal.

Its just, its my first week back in school and everything has changed so much.

Like my whole schedule changed, i cant write in class anymore basically leaving me with less time than normal, my school isnt apart of the Denver Public School soccer league.

So that just got me a little more time to write but not a lot. Sorry again.
