Chapter Twelve: Jeremy Meets Brianna's Dad
Brianna fluttered her eyes open to be met by dim sunlight. Her head was pounding, it felt like someone was stabbing her in the stomach repeatedly, and it felt like someone had taken a jackhammer to her back.
Suddenly, she started to remember what had happened last night.
"Morning."
She jumped at the voice of someone. She directed her gaze to the opposite side of the bed she was laying on to find Jeremy sitting there, still in his pajamas.
"What are you doing here?" She asked, squinting her eyes at him.
"Well, I got your text about your dad at about four this morning, so I came here to see if you were okay, and possibly beat up your dad, but I found you unconscious in the bathtub in the bathroom." He replied, sitting indian style.
"Oh." She answered. "How did you get in here?"
"Your window." He said simply, pointing to it.
"But, I'm on the second floor."
"I found a latter in your yard, and leaned it against the tree. I climbed the latter as far as I could, and got into the branch outside your window. I crawled across it, and got onto your roof, popped your screen out, and opened your window. And, here I am." He explained.
"You didn't have to do all that for me..." She sighed. "But, thanks."
"No problem." He smiled. "How do you feel?"
"Like I've been run over by a truck." Brianna said, running a hand down her face, but winced when she reached the place her dad elbowed her.
"I bet." Jeremy nodded. "Do you have any pain killers?"
"Yeah. In my bathroom, in the cabinet above the sink."
"Okay." He got up off her bed, and went to get her a pill.
He came back with a small white pill in his hand, and handed it to her. He also gave her the bottle of water that was sitting on her night stand. She quickly swallowed the pill, along with almost half of her bottle of water. "Thanks." She chocked out.
"Your welcome." He smiled, sitting beside of her on the bed. All of a sudden, Jeremy placed his hand on Brianna's cheek, caressing the bruise on her face. She winced from the contact, but thought of it as a sweat gesture.
"It looks like it hurts." He whispers.
"I-it does." Brianna stuttered.
This seemed to be the best moment for Jeremy. He felt like he needed to heal the broken girl in front of him. He slowly leaned down, and his eyes fluttered closed.
Just as he was about to kiss her, a banging noise came from the door. His eyes widened, and pulled himself away.
"C-come in." Brianna stuttered. The door swung open to reveal Brianna's dad. Of course, Jeremy didn't know what her dad looked like, but the look on Brianna's face said it all.
Her dads eyes slightly widened in shock of seeing a boy on his daughters bed, but he remembered it was the same boy he saw Brianna with before.
"Hello, Brianna." Her dad greeted sweetly. Brianna and Jeremy both knew this was some sort of act because Jeremy was there.
"Hi, dad."
"How are you feeling since you fell down the steps?" He asked, stepping forward.
"Umm... fine." She mumbled.
"Would you mind telling me who this boy is?"
"Th-"
"I'm Jeremy, Brianna's friend." Jeremy interrupted her.
"Well, its nice to meet you, Jeremy." Her dad smiled, sticking out his hand. Jeremy hesitantly reached for his hand, and shook it. It disgusted him that he used those hands to beat Brianna with.
"Nice too meet you too." Jeremy said, applying a fake smile to his face.
"Well, I just wanted to check up on you. I'll be out for bit, Brianna." Her dad said.
"Okay." She squeaked.
"You two be good. No funny business." Her dad cackled, shutting the door.
"Your dads not a very good actor." Jeremy said when he herd Brianna's dads heavy footsteps going down the steps.
"I know." Brianna agreed. "I'm probably gonna get it once you aren't around."
