I had fallen asleep in Jeremy's arms for the second time today. When I awoke, it was pitch dark with only the glow of the screen to his alarm clock the resource of light to be seen. Jeremy had both his arms around my waist, latched tightly. It was like he was worried I would suddenly get up and leave him. I hope he didn't think I'd do that.
Suddenly, Jeremy's phone lite up and began buzzing while on his nightstand. I stared at it in confusion. It had to be late at night. Who could be calling right now? When it rang for the third time, I picked it up to see who it was.
Daniel.
Who is that? The time also read it was 2:46 AM.
I nudged Jeremy with my elbow to get him up. He didn't even budge. I then grasped his shoulder and lightly shook him.
"Jeremy," I whispered. He groaned, pulling me tighter against him. A small smile of adoration spread across my face, but I continued to shake him.
"Stop," He whined, nuzzling his face into my neck. My smile got bigger and I began to feel like I was going to melt, but I tried to push it away for now.
"Please Jeremy," I pleaded quietly. He hummed as he removed his face from my neck.
"Brianna, what's wrong?" He asked, worriedly, "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine, but some Daniel guy just tried calling you." I managed to turn around to face him, and thrusted my hand towards his face to show him the missed call. His brows furrowed in confusion as he took the phone from me.
"Hang on, I'm going to call him back," Jeremy said, kissing my forehead before unwrapping himself from me and sitting up. My body now felt a little colder without him as close to me.
"Okay." I nodded even though he couldn't see me. I watched as he dialed Daniels number and pressed his phone to his ear.
"Hey, man. I saw you called me," He spoke, "What's up?" He asked, "Shit, Daniel. Are you okay?"
Whoa, I hope he's okay.
"I mean, I guess you could. My rents are gone right now," He said, "See you in a bit."
He took the phone away from his ear and pressed the end button. He then climbed out of bed.
I sat up, "What's going on?"
Suddenly, the light was flipped on, and I was momentarily blinded before my eyes adjusted to the sudden brightness.
"Daniels' parents told him they were getting a divorce, then his girlfriend dumped him over text. He was shit faced and didn't have anywhere to go," Jeremy replied, walking back over to me and sitting on the edge of his bed.
He was now dressed in gray sweatpants and a white t-shirt. His hair was the messiest I've ever seen it. It looked adorable on him though.
"That's not good," I said.
"Yeah and when he's drunk, he tends to get very emotional, so I don't want him to do something I know he'd regret," Jeremy answered. He's such a good friend.
"How sweet of you." I smiled, resting my hand on top of his. He gazed down at our hands, then back at me. He continued to look at me, never looking away, "W-Why are you staring at me?"
He shrugged, "I just can't get over how beautiful you are."
I felt my face flush a deep pink as I bit my lip and looked down in embarrassment.
"You're lying," I whispered.
He put his finger under my chin and lifted up my head to look at him, "I'm not. You are breathtaking."
My breath hitched in my throat as he leaned in closer to me. I could have swore I forgot my name in that moment as he kissed me for the third time that night. My mind was thoughtless as I continued to kiss Jeremy with a sense or want and need.
Five minutes later, the doorbell rang. I hesitantly pulled away from him. His lips were swollen and red. He just smirked at me as he got up to answer the door. I hope my lips didn't look like his. That'd be embarrassing.
I got up and followed him out. I was there just in time to watch him open the door. He exchanged a few words with Daniel before he moved to let him in the house.
Daniel was a mess to say the least. His hair was sticking up in all directions while his white t-shirt was wrinkled and stained with what I assumed was alcohol of some type. His shoes were muddy, and he had a bottle of liquor in his hand.
He stumbled over to Jeremy's couch and plopped down. Daniel took off the cap to his alcohol and took a swig. "You look like shit, Daniel."
He laughed humorlessly. "I know. I feel like shit too."
Jeremy walked over to sit across from him as I watched wordlessly. I don't even think Daniel knew I was there. I'm not sure if thats a good thing or not.
He took another swig of his drink before tossing the cap and empty bottle to the floor. His gaze finally came to me. A look of confusion crossed his face. Honestly, I don't blame him.
"Who the hell is she?" Daniel asked, pointing a shaky finger at me.
Jeremy looked at me before patting the seat next to him. I reluctantly walked over and sat close to him. "This is Brianna."
"Careful man," He spoke, "She just might end up being a slut and break your heart."
My eyes widened in offense. I was about to disagree when Jeremy beat me to it. "She's not a slut, Daniel."
"Just giving you some advice, Jeremy. Not everything you think is perfect is as great as it seems."
