Chapter Twenty: Apologies
Brianna's POV
I ran down the steps with tears falling down my face. As I reach the main floor, I bump into numerous people as I made my way to the front door. I pulled it open and barreled through it, leaving it stand wide open.
My breathing was heavy and the tears came down faster. I can't hear anyone running after me. I have mixed emotions about that. Maybe he just didn't care enough to come after me.
Suddenly, I stop when realization hits me.
Jeremy is my ride home.
What am I suppose to do now? My house on the other side of town!
This causes more warm tears to fall from my eyes and I sink to the ground. I pulled my knees up to chest and wrapped my arms around them.
How could Jeremy let Meagan do that? He seemed to really hate her the day at coffee shop. I know he must have liked it, he was encouraging her. I knew I shouldn't have trusted anyone. This is what happens when you trust people. They betray you. I don't care if I'm overreacting. I have a good reason to be upset.
The sudden sound of shoes slapping on the ground made me silence my sobs. I peaked up and saw Jeremy standing at the corner of the sidewalk. He looks ahead, right and finally left. His eyes land on me and he began to sprint towards me. If I had the strength-emotionally and physically-I would have gotten right up and ran as fast as my legs could take me.
"Brianna!" He shouted, dropping to his knees and wrapping his arms around me. I thrashed in his grip, "Calm down, please listen to me!"
"I don't have to listen to you!" I shouted, choking back a sob. I need to stay strong. When I get home tonight though, I know I won't be.
"Please, Brianna, calm down!" He pleaded, squeezing me tighter. I let out a loud sob and stopped resisting him. My arms laid limp by my sides, "Hear me out, okay?"
I didn't reply. I want to know what he has to say, but that doesn't mean I have to talk.
"What you saw with Meagan and I wasn't intentional." He said, making another embarrassing sound escape my mouth as the image of them together flashed through my mind, "I was coming out of the bathroom when she came up to me and started to kiss me. I told her to stop but she insisted and pulled me into that room. She got me to sit on the bed and got me down on it."
I laughed, sarcastically, "I bet you enjoyed it by the looks of your hand on the back of her neck."
"You don't understand. I went to push her head away from me!" He insisted. He looked like he was about to cry himself.
"Then why did it take you almost a minute for it to happen!" I wailed, another sob leaving my mouth.
"I'm sorry, Brianna. I-"
"Save it. I don't want pity." I replied, "I need to go home."
"Do you forgive me?" Jeremy wondered, his eyes glazing over with tears.
"I-I... don't know."
