Chapter Thirteen: It's Okay For Guys To Cry Too
"Are you still in pain?" Jeremy asked. He was now sitting on the floor, beside Brianna while she was on her bed.
"Yeah." She nodded, running a hand down her stomach.
"Where does it hurt?"
"My head, stomach, and back."
"Let me see your back." Jeremy demanded, rising to his knees.
"W-what?"
"C'mon, roll over. I want to see how bad it is."
Brianna sighed, but obliged and rolled over onto her stomach, as painful as it was. Brianna brought her arms up by her head, and laid her head on them. Gently, Jeremy gripped the hem on her shirt, and slowly lifted it up, to inspect the damage.
Jeremy let out an inaudible gasp once he saw Brianna's back. There were big patches of dark purple and blue scattered across her lower back.
This brought tears to Jeremy's eyes. He rested a hand on a place on her back where there were no bruises, and caressed her bruised skin.
"Does it look bad?" Brianna asked, her voice slightly muffled her pillow.
"Ye-eah." He stuttered, still trying to hold back tears.
"Are you okay, Jeremy?" Brianna wondered, turning her head toward him. She noticed the rim of his eyes were beginning to turn red, and his eyes became glossy. Brianna immediately felt bad. She didn't want him to cry.
She rose up from the bed, and pulled her shirt back down, and managed to sit indian style on the bed in front of Jeremy. Both of his hands were in his lap, and his head was down. "Jeremy, don't cry."
He simply shook his head, and covered his face with has hands. "Please, Jeremy. If you cry, you'll make me cry too." Brianna cooed, gripping his wrists and trying to pull his hands from his face. He was to strong, he didn't even budge.
Soon enough, Jeremy did remove his hands. His face was red, and his eyes were red and puffy. His cheeks were wet with tears. "I'm such a girl." Jeremy chuckled, rubbing his eyes with the palm of his hands.
"Its okay for guys to cry too." Brianna smiled. "Now, go to the bathroom, get a wash cloth from the cabinet below my sink, and get it wet with cold water and wipe your face with it."
"Thanks, Brianna." Jeremy smiled, rising from his place on the floor, and trudging to the bathroom.
"You're welcome."
