CHAPTER FOURTEEN

JEDIDIAH

Nagising ako ng alas-kwatro ng madaling araw. I can't sleep. Iniisip ko pa rin na uuwi na si Leonard and that'll be one f*cking hour from now. Tingin ko'y hindi muna ako makakabisita kay Sassa. Hindi naman dahil sa babalik na si Leonard, partly maybe but I just don't want to see them together.

Bumaba ako at nagtungo ako sa kusina to get a coffee. I need to make her say yes sa gusto kong mangyari. Na kapag sinagot nya ako ay tuloy na sa kasalan. Siguro nga naninigurado ako ako but who could blame me? I badly want my Sassa.

Tumunganga lang ako ng ilang oras. Lagi na 'kong paranoid. I took my phone at tinignan ang mga picture namin ni Sassa. I got new memories. In-upload ko ang mga 'yon sa Facebook at ang ilan ay sa Twitter at Instagram. Pero wala namang mga ganon si Sassa, I've searched it, walang lumalabas. Muli ay mapasulyap ako sa friend requests ko. Hailee Cassidy Woods caught my attention. Hindi nya ba talaga ako titigilan? I declined her friend request. She left me years ago after I turned her down. She made me believe that she was a friend but she disappeared out of the blue.

I looked at the wall clock, 7AM na. Agad na 'kong naligo at nagbihis ng corporate attire. F*ck, having the thought of not seeing Sassa today is killing me. Lalo pa at magkakasama na sila ni Leonard mamaya.

"Good morning, Sir." Bati ng sekretarya ko.

"Good morning." Ani ko.

I am the Chief Operating Officer of Villegas Corp. And soon, I'm going to handle this company as the President. Kaya kating-kati si dad na pakasalan ko si Sassa because she's so rich now. Pero hindi ganon ang intensyon ko.

"Can I get my sched for today?" I asked.

"10AM po ay may meeting kayo with Mrs. Zaragoza. 2PM will be for the board meeting and 4PM, you'll be having a video call with Mr. Ignacio. That's all, Sir Jed."

"Wait...10AM?" I asked puzzled.

"Yeah, Sir, 10AM with Mrs. Zaragoza."

"I thought Dad will be the one to meet her?"

"Binaba po ni President sa inyo ang meeting, Sir Jed." Sagot nya. "And pinabibigay po pala sa inyo ni Mr. President." She handed me a cream folder.

Tumangu-tango na lang ako. Bakit kaya ako ang pahaharapin ni Dad kay Mrs. Zaragoza? The meeting will be all about the business proposal of Mrs. Zaragoza's high class furniture for our Hotels and Resorts. Dad already met her twice and this is supposed to be the last meeting they'll be having but he put the decision in my hands. I couldn't make head nor tail of it.

I did some typing job habang naghihintay mag-10AM. I have fifteen minutes only kaya nag-ayos na 'ko. Maaga namang dumating si Mrs. Zaragoza with her usual old-fashioned dress. Dad is so rude for not meeting her.

"Good morning, Mrs. Zaragoza. Please, have a seat." Pagbati ko.

"Good morning, Mr. Villegas. So I hope you understand why am I here."

"Of course, of course. Do you want something? Coffee or tea?" I offered.

"Tea will do." Aniya at inutusan ko si Ciara to get her the tea.

"So honestly, I don't have the slightest idea why Dad wants me to decide for this...but I don't have any other choice as well but to do it."

"Did he tell you what we've talked about? I was also shocked when my secretary told me that I'll be meeting you instead." She said.
