{breanna's pov}

The bell rang and I picked up all my books from the desk and my bag from the floor. I waited for Kylie and we walked out of the class.

We went to the canteen to get our food and then sat down. I wasn't really paying attention to what she was saying because I was thinking about Cameron. He literally disappeared and I was hoping to see him in school but he didn't come and it's already Wednesday.

"Don't you think so ?" Kylie asked interrupting my thoughts.

"Hm... yeah, sure." I replied nodding lightly but she glared at me.

"You weren't paying attention..." She said laying back crossing her arms.

"I'm sorry..." I said with a sheepish smile. "I was thinking about something else."

"Like what ?"

"Cameron."

"Oh, interesting..." She smirked and then popped another french fry in her mouth.

"It's not like that." I shook my head laughing. "I'm worried about him. We hung out on Saturday and then he disappeared, I already texted him and I'm always checking his window and nothing."

"That's weird... Maybe he's married and has two kids or he's a drug dealer and that's why he disappeared."

"I'm serious..." I said throwing a fry at her.

"Me too. You don't know a lot about him."

"I know his name, that he's 18, his parents are divorced and that he has a sister in college. I also know that he loves art, especially paint. His favorite colors are green and blue because he finds them peaceful. He's really competitive and hates to lose. He always closes his eyes when he's smiling really hard. He always says how much he hates nutella and that peanut butter is way better. I know how insecure he is although it doesn't look like and how hard it is for him to see some things. I know the basic."

"Wow, what was that ?" Kylie asked surprised.

"Nothing. I was just proving a point." I replied drinking my soda through a straw.

"That was deep, honestly, do you guys...?"

"I already told you, we're not like that. I'm just a good observer."

"You sounded like someone who's in love." She teased.

"You know that I don't fall in love that quick and especially with this bet, I'm not gonna lose it."

"You guys and that bet, oh Lord. But explain it better."

"The bet ?" I asked and she nodded. "Well, if any of us fall in love for each other or if something happens, like kiss, we lose. That's it."

"That's sad, I thought you could still have fun..." She said wiggling her eyebrows.

"I don't want that." I replied shaking my head.

"Why not?"

"Because I enjoy Cameron's company and I'm happy for having him as a friend, he has been helping me with some stuff lately and I don't wanna lose that."

"He has been helping with some stuff, I see..." She smirked once again.

"I give up, I can't have a serious conversation with you!" I said laughing.

"I just want you to have fun."

"I know but I don't need that now. I'm really trying to focus, I need to help my mom."

"I understand but don't forget about yourself." She said and I nodded. "Just one more thing. Look me in the eyes and say that you don't like Cameron, like that."

"I don't like Cameron, like that." I said looking into her eyes.

"Shit, you're telling the truth." She said disappointed and I laughed.

"Let's go now."

We grabbed our stuff and went to the last class of the day. At the end of the class, I went to the parking lot and drove home.

"Mom, I'm home." I said closing the door and then took the keys off. "Mom?"

Weird, her car was outside.
I placed my bag on the sofa and started searching for her.
After searching upstairs, I decided to go to the back of the house. I opened the back door and saw her there, sitting on the stairs, blowing out a puff of smoke.

"Hey." I said sitting next to her.

"Hi baby." She replied quickly cleaning her eyes.

"What's going on ?" I asked wrapping my arm around her, pulling her next to me.

"Your father...he called...and it happened again." She said bringing the cigarette back to her lips but I took it off.

"Smoke isn't going to help."

"I'm already dead inside, where's the point ?" She said looking me in the eyes and I never saw them so dark and hopeless.

"You have me, you will always have me. Do it for me, please." She didn't reply, just hugged me. "I promise that I'm going to help you"

"I love you so much. I think that I'm going to take a nap." She said leaving my arms and then got up and walked inside the house.

I just stayed there for a while thinking about how I could help her but I was just tired and needed someone to be here with me.

I picked my phone from inside my jacket's pocket and searched for his name.

The phone kept calling and calling but then it stopped.

"Hey it's Cameron."

"Oh my God, hey I..."

"Please leave a message."

You gotta be kidding me. I hung up the call and just groaned.
