A man once told me a secret
Of a powerful ball of fire
We both set on a treacherous path
To seek the ball of fire
It sheds light in the dark
It brings life to the dead
But he warned me not to get much
Or it will consume you whole
I watched as he devoured the ball
Curious I was, I asked for some
He breathed fire into my soul
Awakening my senses, arousing my desires
I kissed his lips, hungry for more
The fire left him, but was burning in me
He abandoned when he saw me ruining
Being scorched was better than him leaving me
"That's so sad," Charles commented as soon as he was done reading my composed poem.
I told him, "Well I was still bitter when you brought me to the Golden Gate Bridge to see the sunset." Charles and I were cuddling on our bed in our new apartment in New York. We wrapped ourselves in sheets and my back was pressed to the front part of his body. He put his arm around my chest and I tilted my head closer to his. I could feel his warm breath on my cheeks. I was scrolling through the pictures on his iPad.
"I like to take pictures of beautiful sceneries," he told me. I saw beautiful pictures of beaches, cities, mountains, houses, famous buildings, sunrises and sunsets, the moon and random places. And then I saw numerous pictures of me. My heart skipped a beat and my lips curved into a smile. Even though I had kissed Charles a thousand times, he still flattered me with the little things.
I looked up at him and said, "That's me."
"My most favorite scenery," he breathed out the words. I smiled so wide. He put down his iPad and grabbed my face. He searched my lips with his while caressing my hair. In response, I touched his hair and gently tugged it. Our kisses became rough as we both wanted more. Our breathing became heavy, the air was getting hot, and our bodies became more tensed. His lips traversed to my neck and I arched my body in pleasure. His hand grasped my thigh then traveled towards my waist and breasts. I let out a moan as he squeezed my breasts and kissed my neck at the same time. Slowly, he undressed me and then himself. He stopped for a while because he couldn't stop smiling.
"What?" I asked with a grin on my face.
He responded, "You're so hot."
"Shut up!" I shouted at him. He kissed me again, covering every inch of my skin. My hands were on his rock hard abs and neck. I could feel the passion burning in us. I never wanted to be anywhere else than with Charles. I always found solace in his touch and there's no better home than that. He was mine and I was his.
Central Park was a painting of colors on a sunny afternoon in mid-May. Charles and I were walking along the mall. I held onto his arm as he was telling me stories about his new job here in New York. Apparently, there was this guy that thought of Charles as competition. Charles was also honest to me and told me that there was this co-worker, a girl, who was flirting at. That fucking bitch. Well, bitches were going to bitch but I would be the main bitch. I rolled my eyes and pretended not to give a shit. Charles looked at me and noticed I went silent. He then messed up my hair and tickled me. I squealed in response.
"Stop it Charles!" I was half pissed and half laughing. He then held me, embraced me from the back.
He whispered into my ears, "You're my one and only."
I turned my head to meet his face that was leaning on my shoulder. Our noses touched each other and he moved my body to face him. We gave each other a passionate kiss in the middle of a crowd of civilians. Everything else was a blur every time I was with Charles. I guessed that was what happened when you found your true love.
We made our way towards Cherry Hill to have a picnic. Charles got out his camera and started taking pictures of me. I got used to that and so I posed. I loved doing quirky poses because that took less energy because I was already quirky.
"Do some Vogue poses," Charles directed me. I did a lip bite as I arched my eyebrow and put one hand on the head. That made Charles cracked up. I continued doing some ugly seductive looks.
"Are you seduced already?" I said as I batted my eyelashes. Charles went near me for support. He was literally rolling on the floor, in his case grass, laughing. I touched his face with palm and pushed him. He then tickled me and I ran away to escape that sweet torture. Charles was chasing me and we were running around the place. When Charles finally caught me, he swept my feet off the ground. I couldn't stop laughing. The air was cool on my skin and Charles' skin was sending me warmth throughout my body. I could feel my face turning red and Charles too was blushing. We both had wide smiles on our faces. Once the excitement ended, we both lied down on a blanket.
"I had thought of changing the ending of the poem," I said to Charles as I was lying down with my head on his abdomen as he was lying down on his back.
"What poem?" he was confused.
I reminded him, "My poem on that sunset?"
"Ohh. Do you want to do an impromptu?" he asked. I stayed silent for a while, trying to organize my thoughts. I then said:
When I was all ashes he came back
He ventured every corner of the earth
To find me, the love of his life
At first I didn't trust him
How could someone who destroyed you bring you back from the dead?
I was scared, but I knew myself better
That his heart was the only one I want
Slowly I let him touch me again
From ashes to mold to flesh
He breathed the ball of fire into me
I had a beating heart once more
We held onto each other, afraid of getting lost
Again we went together on a journey
This time towards eternity
We were both silent. I waited for Charles' comment. When he didn't speak, I got anxious. He then rose up which made me also got up. I looked at him, my eyebrows narrowed. Charles was sweating and his eyes wouldn't settle on one view. Why was he nervous? We were already both on our feet facing each other. I still had no idea what had gotten into him. He held my hands. He finally looked at me, those green eyes blazing me.
"Charles, what's wrong –," he cut me off.
He cleared his throat. "Vivienne, ma vie, my life, I love you with all that I am. And... I just want to spend the rest of my life with you."
Oh my god. I didn't realize I was holding my breath. My jaw dropped when he kneeled on one knee and got out a small box. When he opened the box, there was a golden ring with many small diamonds embedded around it. I was jumping in excitement and tears fell from my eyes. Charles was also crying for joy.
"Will you marry me?" he finally said.
Even in a million years, million galaxies, million lifetimes, "Yes."
