VIVIENNE'S POV
Jay picked me up from the bus station and invited me to eat in a diner downtown. I decided to come home early because I still had unfinished businesses to do. My weekend was filled with rejuvenating activities such as hiking, biking, fishing, and picnicking with my parents. I needed to have an inner peace. Amanda would always appear everywhere and there was nothing more I could do but to make myself at peace. When we dropped by at my apartment, I was glad I had talked to Charles. I had been reading his lengthy soliloquies and I knew he truly regretted what he did. Of course I had to forgive him. I loved him. Ugh, no, I hated him.
"How do you move on?" I asked Jay who just had a big bite on his burger.
He was wiping the food chunks on his mouth and said, "Moving on is easy you know. You just had to turn your head the other way so you couldn't see the bastard who broke your heart."
I started teasing Jay, "Literally? Like, 'Hey Charles!' with my head turned like this?" I turned my head to one said and I looked like I broke my neck or something. I looked silly and Jay laughed.
He added, "You need to move on." Suddenly, I felt my phone vibrating. It was a call from Julia. My heart dropped when I heard that Charles was hospitalized. My heart was beating fast and I quickly told Jay to take us to the hospital. We rushed to Saint Francis Memorial Hospital to see Charles. I called Nana and delivered the news as calmly as possible. She said that she'll get to the hospital as soon as possible.
When we arrived at the room where Charles was, I didn't know why but I felt guilty seeing him lying in bed still unconscious. I looked around the room and saw Daniel and Julia on the couch. A girl was sitting on the bed beside Charles. I couldn't see her face but I knew those blonde locks anywhere around here.
"Amanda?" she turned her face towards me. I faced Julia and Daniel and asked, "Why is she here?"
"Duh. I am his girlfriend, remember? And I'll be here so that I'll be the first person he sees when he wakes up," Amanda said. I had the urge to push her off the building but instead I just rolled my eyes. Julia went to me and held both my shoulders. I obliged to her grasp and whispered to her, "Good god help me not to slap this bitch again." Julia giggled at what I said. I didn't want to strangle this bitch again and so to distract me from my thoughts about Amanda, I asked about the incident.
Daniel answered me, "The car was moving fast. The driver was drunk but thankfully he saw Charles and still had the mind to prevent the car from hitting Charles. The driver quickly maneuvered the car but he still hit Charles sending him face flat on the concrete. The car crashed into someone's property. The driver will be brought to custody after his wounds are treated.
"Thanks Daniel," I said as I looked at Charles whose hands were being held by Amanda.
Minutes later, I saw Charles' eyelids flutter. Thank god he was fully awake. We all stood up and Amanda moved her body closer to Charles. Her face was so close to Charles' and her cleavage was totally exposed. That sight should wake Charles up. I stayed near the couch as we all waited for Charles to be fully awake. Charles then moaned and Amanda held his face.
"It's okay babe, it's okay," lulled Amanda. Charles hadn't opened his eyes yet but the first thing that he said with his raspy voice was, "Vie? Are you there?" Amanda quickly pulled back, astounded that she was not his first thought. I too was actually surprised but had managed to immediately go near his bed and shoved Amanda. I could feel tears of joy building up my eyes. He was looking for me! I held his face and said, "Yes. I'm here." He finally opened his eyes and he deeply sighed when he saw me. We both smiled at each other and he said, "I was afraid that Amanda was here."
