Luhan's POV
After a short drive, we arrive at my favorite Chinese restaurant in Seoul and take a seat by the window. We both order noodle dishes and bubble tea. I look towards the entrance to see several students from school filing in. Hey doesn't that look like--
"Hey guys!" Kai greets. "Oh my gosh! Lindy! What are you doing here?!" He slides into the seat next to Lindy and puts his arm around her shoulder. "How are you? I can't wait to see the dance in a couple days!"
I look at Lindy who appears a bit dazed and is unable to say anything.
He looks up at me. "Hey Luhan! Gosh, I didn't see you there!" He flashes a bright smile.
I glare at him. Prick.
"Oh... hey Kai..." I say uninterested.
"You mind if I join you guys?" he asks.
"Um, no..." Lindy says, obviously trying to avoid being rude.
"Yeah, actually we do mind. Lindy and I are busy discussing the rest of our routine that we're perfoming in two days," I say harshly. "So maybe another time."
Kai glares at me and I glare just as harshly back.
"No! It's fine! You can stay!" Lindy quickly says, noticing our harsh expressions at one another.
I roll my eyes. "No, actually, it's not. We're really trying to get our routine done... We're only half done," I lie.
"What?! No we're not! We're done!" Lindy shouts. "We just need to practice more. It's fine if you stay."
I gently kick her foot under the table to hear her wince and throw me a death glare.
"Sorry, Kai, we just need to be alone right now to discuss Tuesday since we won't have much time for practice tomorrow."
He glares at me again and let's out a sigh in frustration before changing his expression to a unappreciative smile.
"Good luck, Tuesday. See you guys later," he says getting up and walking out of the restaurant.
Good riddance.
I turn back and look at a frowning Lindy.
"Why did you lie to him?"
I stare hard into her eyes. I obviously don't want to tell her the real reason. Kai, that stupid prick. I take Lindy on a date and he just barges in and pretends like this whole thing was just a coincidence.
"Are you sure you wouldn't date Kai?" I ask, avoiding her question.
"Stop avoiding my questions. Why did you lie to him?" she says harshly.
Never realized you were so determined Lindy.
"Remember my answer from earlier today?"
"To keep her myself."
She looks at me, her eyes flashing with realization.
"Oh..." she remarks.
Thankfully, the waiter arrives with our food and we forget about the uncomfortable situation a few minutes before.
"So are you ready for the performance?" I ask her.
She sighs, keeping her gaze on her plate. "Yeah, I think so. One more day!"
"Yeah..." I say under my breath. "One more day."
"Are you... are you sticking around after our performance?" she asks hesitantly.
Frankly, I really want to ask her to the dance. But I don't know if she would agree considering I've been such an ass to her.
"Yeah, I was just thinking about that," I begin. "I uh, was wondering if you wanted to go together...like, as friends?"
She stares at me blankly. I was right. She would never agree to go with me.
"As friends?" she questions.
I slowly nod my head even though I would definitely prefer to go as a couple.
"Um, sure," she says with a warm smile.
"Great!"
Definitely wasn't expecting that.
"So are we practicing once more tomorrow night after school?" she asks.
"Uh, yeah. I'm really surprised that we were able to come up with something in three days. I've never been able to do with anyone."
And actually, I really could not believe that we were able to do something like that. It didn't even seem real that we could come up with a routine in three days. It would take Kai and I up to two weeks sometimes to get something ready. Of course, I had been watching Hyun Seung and Hyuna's performance for hours and mimicked many of his movements. I guess Lindy has been doing the same thing.
We finish the meal as I pay for the bill even though Lindy continues to insist that she pays. It's cute.
Getting in the car, I take her back home and silently anticipate tomorrow's school day. I can't wait to see her again.
