The drive to school is rather quiet, the two of us exchanging brief words about the dance and our routine. At seven thirty, we are supposed to report to the stage and prepare. It’s actually really strange since we’re the only two from our dance club that bothered to sign up to do a couple routine. The rest of our dance club was doing something without the two of us.
As we drive, Luhan misses the normal turn I would take to get to school.
“Are you going to school a different way?” I ask.
“No,” he replies, keeping his eyes on the road. “I’m taking you to dinner, if you don’t mind…”
"Oh...you don't need to do that," I say, looking down at the floor of the car.
“You’re my date, aren’t you? I’m supposed to take you to dinner.”
Date? Really? Before he just wanted to go as friends. He needs to make up his mind. I roll my eyes.
A few minutes later, we arrive at a small bistro that is really popular in town. It’s quiet and has a cozy interior that’s perfect for dates.
Ugh. The thought of dates makes me gag.
I grab my purse as Luhan gets out of the driver’s seat and runs over to me to open the passenger door. I accept the hands he holds out and carefully step out of his car. As we walk to the entrance of the restaurant, Luhan gently puts his arm around my shoulder.
My breath hitches and I suddenly stop walking, startled by his touch.
“Is something wrong?”
“Hm? No, everything’s fine…” I reply, avoiding his gaze.
We continue walking into the restaurant and sit down at a table in the corner of the restaurant.
As we look through the menu, a rather busty waitress comes over to us, flashing a flirtatious smile at Luhan and I can’t help but feel a surge of jealousy running through me. Back off of my date.
“Hi, what can I get you?” she asks, keeping her gaze on Luhan.
He looks up at me and gestures me to order first. The waitress turns her head and shoots me a glare.
“Uh, I’ll just have the strawberry salad.”
She turns back towards Luhan after quickly writing down my order.
“And for you?” she asks again with a bright smile.
“I’ll have the mushroom ravioli,” he says, his eyes continuing to focus on me.
“Alright, be right back.”
She huffs and turns around; irritated with the fact that Luhan wouldn’t even look at her.
When our waitress is no longer in sight, I look at Luhan again, who has been looking at me the entire time. I look at him quizzically.
“You know that she was staring at you, right?”
“Oh. She was?” he says with a light chuckle. “I didn’t notice.”
How could he not notice? And besides that, he’s really creeping me out with his constant staring.
I begin to question him about the rest of the plan for us to be back stage and where we should position ourselves. But first, we’ll take a few pictures and meet up with our friends if we have time so that we can get back stage a half hour after the dance starts. I’m actually hoping that I’ll have a chance to dance with Luhan during the regular dance as well. Wishful thinking I suppose. Not really sure why I want that considering he used me at the mall. I guess I still can’t get over the fact that I like him and that really frustrates me. Maybe I should just leave early, save myself the heartache.
