We walk out on stage and over to Mr. Kim who is on his computer in the midst of changing songs.
“Are you guys ready?” he asks us, not taking his eyes off of the computer.
“Yeah, I think so,” I respond.
“Okay, go to the front of the stage where Luhan was standing. That’s where you want to enter from, right?”
“Yeah,” Luhan says when I turn to look at him.
Luhan turns around and starts walking to his previous position where I found him. I follow him and we stand behind the curtain. I look out at the gym to see everyone laughing and having fun.
“You nervous?” he asks quietly.
I continue to stare out among the crowd, taking notice that the table I was sitting at is in my direct line of sight. That’s peculiar.
“Not really,” I respond. “Are you?”
He chuckles. “A little bit.”
I look at him to find him smiling down at me. Hesitantly, I reach for his hand and gently squeeze his fingers in assurance.
“You’ll do great,” I say with a smile.
We quickly turn our heads towards the gym floor again when we hear the screeching of the microphone.
“Ladies and gentlemen, how are you doing tonight? I hope you’re having fun because we have a treat for you!” Mr. Kim says into the microphone. “Our dance club has arranged a few pieces for you guys just so that you can see some of the cool things we’ve prepare for Valentine’s Day!”
Several shouts and claps fill the gym. I hear Claire cheer and several of our male friends whistle.
“So, without further ado, please welcome, Luhan and Lindy Chen!”
“Troublemaker” starts to play and Luhan walks onto the stage and I follow him out a few measures into the song. We execute our routine, his hands gripping my waist as his face gets close to mine and I quickly turn away.
I hear several shouts from the crowd, telling Luhan to “get some” as well as some glares from girls less than satisfied with our provocative performance.
Luhan spins me around, letting go of my hand as we stand back to back. I lean forward and begin to snap and excited screams sound from girls throughout the gym. I feel a surge of satisfaction and begin to smirk as we execute the next few heated dance moves. This is better than I thought it would be.
As we near the end of the song, Luhan pulls me into his arms as I run a hand down his chest. He spins me around one last time and we end just as he dips me and leans in towards my face.
I look into his eyes as we are less than five centimeters apart, heavily breathing and brightly smiling.
Clapping from the crowd continues as people shout our names. “Luhan! Lindy! Luhan! Lindy!”
He pulls me up from the dip and we walk to the front of the stage to bow.
“Wow, thank you Luhan and Lindy! That was a great performance! Everyone, give them another round of applause!”
I look over at Claire who gives me two thumbs up and a bright smile. I smile back and turn around to follow Luhan backstage.
The rest of our dance club was hurrying to their positions for the group dance. Kai and several other people from our club run over to us, congratulating us and saying how great we did. Yixing puts his arm around Luhan’s shoulder and they walk to the other side of the room as they laugh and talk about his routine.
