When I arrive home, I walk into my bedroom and fall onto my bed.
What have I gotten myself into?
I turn my head towards my nightstand and look at the clock. 3:30.
“Ugh!” I groan as I grab a pillow and bury my face into it.
Luhan is supposed to pick me up in an hour and a half and I still need to get ready. Why did I ever agree to do a dance routine with him? Actually, why was I so stupid and agree to go to the dance with him “as friends?” What am I trying to do to myself? I like the guy for crying out loud and I agree to go with him “as friends.” Well, I supposed that’s better than nothing. At least I’ve been able to kiss him…which he doesn’t fully acknowledge and that really pisses me off.
I throw the pillow to the side and prop myself up onto my elbows. A buzzing sound jolts next to me as I turn my head to pick up my phone.
From: Luhan
Hey, send me the color of your dress! You said pink, right?
I stare at my phone screen and feel my heart sink. Does it really matter if we match? He only wants it for our routine anyway.
I get up from my bed and walk into my closet, rummaging through the many dresses I have.
I said pink, didn’t I?
I run across a long light pink dress.
Hm, maybe not. I don’t really want to trip. That would be a really bad idea.
I continue going through the dresses and come across a short red one with a flowing skirt.
I stand looking at the dress for a moment, contemplating the ability it would give me to dance. It’d be easy…and it’s red. Might as well give Luhan something that he would want…not that he really wants it in the first place. I guess I should at least give myself the satisfaction of at least trying to look nice….and looking hot…for Luhan.
I take my phone and start to message him back.
To: Luhan
Is it okay if it’s red?
Screw him if he’s not okay with it.
From: Luhan
Perfect! I’ll see you at 5!
Doesn’t he want a picture of the dress?
To: Luhan
Wait! Don’t you want a picture of the dress?
From: Luhan
Nope! Don’t worry! Get ready! I’ll be there soon!
I turn my head and look at the clock again. 3:45. Shoot! I still need to do my makeup and hair and get dressed! And eat! I can’t forget to eat!
I run into my bathroom and pull out my curling iron and plug it into the electrical socket for it to heat up. While waiting, I quickly put on concealer, foundation, eyeliner, and mascara. Simple, just as I like it. By the time I finish my makeup, it is already 4 pm. Crap.
I split my hair into several sections and start wrapping my hair around the barrel, giving it a gentle wave.
When I finish, I give my hair a quick ruffle and slip on my dress. I find a white cardigan to wear on top and pick out a pair of silver heels. Taking a look in the mirror, I smile and adjust my dress slightly.
Perfect.
I look at the clock again and it is 4:40. Lovely, twenty minutes to eat.
I run downstairs, barely having grabbed my clutch and filling it with my wallet and phone. Entering the kitchen, I quickly run to the fridge and find my leftover salad from the night before when my parents had gotten me take out.
Another buzzing causes my clutch to shake on the kitchen counter. I reach for it and take my phone out.

I’m leaving my house now. See you in a few!

I stare at the screen as my heart beat picks up. Nervousness takes over my entire body and I mentally scold myself again for having gotten mixed up in this stupid mess. If I hadn’t said yes to dance with Luhan, I wouldn’t have this problem. He doesn’t like me anyway. He told me himself.
I scoff. What was I even thinking?
I look down at my half eaten salad and decide to put it away, having lost my appetite.
As I close the fridge, the doorbell rings.
I sigh. Better now than later I guess.
I walk over to the door and turn the lock as I pull it open. Standing on the porch is Luhan, dressed in black suit with a black bow tie. He looked flawless.
“Hey,” he says with a smile.
“Uh, hi,” I say breathless, completely captivated by his choice of dress and his warm smile spread across his face.
“Um, these are for you,” he says as he holds on a bouquet of red roses to me.
I look down and gasp.
“Oh!”
I hold out my hand to grasp the bundle of roses. I bring them up to my face and inhale the fresh scent.
“Thank you,” I say with a smile.
He smiles back and holds out his hand.
“Shall we?”
I place the bouquet on a table by the door before taking his hand. He gently leads me outside, still holding the roses. I shut the door behind me and lock it.
We walk to his car and I continue to look at the roses. Why would he get me these?
I look to the side when I see that he has opened the passenger door to the silver vehicle. He gestures for me to get in. I start to ease myself in as he gently places his hand on my waist to help me in. I jump at the feeling of his hand and look at him as he gives me a reassuring smile.
Once I get into the car, he lingers by the door for a moment.
“You look beautiful.”
His words surprise me as I am rendered speechless.
His smile reaches his eyes as he closes the door and walks around to the driver’s side, quickly getting in.
“Ready?” he asks.
I let out a breath. “Yeah.”
“Good.”
I watch him as he puts the key into the ignition and starts driving towards the school.
