At The End Of The Day

Khalif POV

I was having a good ass dream until I felt something touch me. I woke up and saw Nalani on the bed.

"Happy birthday daddy!" she said showing her beautiful smile.

"Thanks, Lani" I said picking her up and kissing her cheek.

"Mommy made breakfast!"

"Did she?"

She nodded.

I walked in the bathroom and she followed. I picked her up and put her on the counter.

"You have to brush your teeth." she told me.

"I know. You do too." I said handing her her toothbrush.

She pouted. "Okay."

I brushed my teeth and used mouthwash afterwards. She reached for the mouthwash too almost knocking it over.

"Stop, Lani!" I said catching it.

"Sorry daddy, are we finish?"

"Yes, my little troublemaker" I said biting her cheek.

"Ouch!"

"It didn't even hurt." I said walking downstairs.

I saw my baby standing in the kitchen fanning the smoke alarm.

"What is that smell?" Nalani asked me.

"Mommy can't cook" I whispered.

"Shut up, Khalif!" she hit my arm.

I walked over to her. "What you got going on over here?" I said picking up the bacon that she burned.

"Khalif, I'm so sorry. I messed everything up." she fell onto my chest.

I wrapped my arms around her. Nalani started laughing. "It's cool, we can just go to Waffle House." She looked up and smiled.

I ain't smiling, her stupid ass fucked up my kitchen. She know she can't cook, anyway. I swear she be extra at times but I love that girl.

At Waffle House:

"I want 3 waffles" Nalani said.

"You not even gon' finish one." I said.

A group of kids walked up to me. "Can we take a picture with you?"

"Yeah" I said. "Nalani, go with mommy." They went inside and we got ready to take the picture.

"On a count of three, you gotta say SremmLife!"

"1...2...3..."

"SremmLife!" they said in unison.

I walked back inside and they were already eating. I sat on the side with Nalani and took her bacon.

"No, I want it!" she said grabbing my wrist.

I took a bite and gave the rest to her.

I looked at Kali. "How you gonna party with that cast?" I asked her.

"I talked to Dr. Thomas and he said that I can take it off since I told him it's getting better."

"Oh" I smiled.

"Oh, I also wanted to bring something up."

"What is it now?" I sighed.

"I've been thinking and I would like to meet up with Tyla."

"Really? Wait, why you change your mind?"

"Because I need to talk to her."

"You tryna start shit?"

"Whatever" she said drinking her orange juice.

I took out my phone and took a picture of her. I put it on Instagram and the caption said: Hanging with her for my birthday.

"That picture better be cute" she said.

I showed it to her and she smirked.

Nalani tapped my shoulder. "Am I going to grandma's tonight?"

"Yeah, my mom tho" I said to Kali.

"Did you ask her?"

"You know she'll do anything for Nalani"

"Yeah, but-"

"I got this. Y'all finished or are y'all done?" he said pretending to be Birdman.

"Shut up. You so childish."

At Home:

"So what we doing?" I asked.

"We're going to dinner first, then we'll go to the club."

"Thanks babe for putting this together."

"Don't thank me. Thank Aaquil & Danielle"

"I will but I gotta get ready." I said grabbing my towel.

Aaquil POV

I opened the door and a man was standing there.

"Can I help you?" I asked.

"You ordered a 3-layer cake?"

"Yeah, but you were supposed to deliver to the location I asked for. Not here!"

"Do you mind writing down the address again?"

I took a deep breath. "Fine." I said grabbing a pen. I wrote it on a sheet of paper: 9039 Sunset Blvd @ 1 Oak LA.

"Thank you, sir. We'll have the cake sent to the place right away."

He left and Destany walked downstairs.

"Wassup with you?" she asked.

"Nothing" I said walking into the kitchen.

She wrapped her arms around my waist and kissed my lips. "Are you sure?"

"Yeah" I said kissing her back. She soon pulled away.

"What?" I said.

"We have to keep this a secret. What if Kali finds out-"

"Finds out what?" Kali said walking in the kitchen."

Destany unwrapped her hands from around me. "Um. Finds out that we're surprising Khalif, she'll probably tell him."

"Yeah, you know you have a big mouth." I played along.

"Oh, I didn't know you guys were surprisi-"

Destany grabbed my hand. "Yeah, that's why we have to go finish planning. Right, Aaquil?" I nodded and we went upstairs.

"That was weird" I heard Kali mumble.

"Why do we have to keep this a secret?"

"We can't let anyone know we had sex. I don't want Kali to be like I told you so."
