Padge’s POV:

“Erm would anyone mind explaining to me what’s going on?” Lissa’s friend asks.

“Oh dear…I don’t think you’ll believe any of this Nad,” Lissa sighs.

“Damn straight I don’t,” Nad rolls her eyes.

“Let’s start right from the beginning,” I sigh.

*

“I still find this hard to believe. I mean, how could I possible be a Valkryie? How is Liss a Dark Angel? How is any of this possible?”

“I didn’t believe it either until I saw it all myself,” Lissa says softly.

“You’re not messing with me are you?” Nadine narrows her piercing blue eyes. “Because if you are, you can be certain I’ll find a way to make you sorry,”

“We’re not trying to mess with you, Nadine,” James shakes his head. “Now then…I think we should begin the ritual,”

“Ritual!?” Lissa looks panicked. “You never said anything about a ritual!”

“Members of the Circle go through it…it gives us our powers and the ability to transform. Kind of like how Moose and Jay can change into a completely different form. You being a Dark Angel would mean you’d have a different form too,”

“What happens at this ritual?” Nadine asks suspiciously.

“You have to drink a special drink,” Jay says. “It’ll send you into a deep sleep. Whilst you’re asleep the chemicals and magic in the drink somehow…changes you. Nobody’s really sure how it all works, it just does,”

“What do we have to drink?” Lissa asks.

“You’ll find out soon enough,” I say grimly.

Lissa’s POV:

Before the ritual, Matt offers to take me out for a walk. I accept, seeing as it’s relatively nice for six in the evening.

I accept his offer and we start to walk companionably through the forest. How weird is this!? I always dreamed off being alone with Matt Tuck and now it’s actually happening.

“Lissa…” Matt says.

“Yes?” I ask, wondering about what he’s thinking of.

“Lissa…I…” Matt looks at the ground. “Something could go wrong during the ritual,”

“What?” I yelp.

“It’s a one in a million chance,” Matt assures me. “But in case something DOES happen,” Matt leans in and I know what’s coming next. His lips meet mine and he closes his eyes. After a few seconds, I do too.

*

I’m still in a complete daze. Matt and Nadine have been sent out of the living room so it’s just me and the members of the Circle. I still haven’t seen the actual rock. I wonder where it is.

James leaves the room momentarily and returns with a bottle of wine.

“Wine?” I arch an eyebrow. “Wine?”

“No,” James shakes his head. “This is…this is the drink that’ll transform you,”

He hands it to me and I take off the lid. It smells absolutely repulsive.

“Best to get it over with,” Amy advices.

I take a deep breath and chug it all down before I can have second thoughts. Then I feel a burning sensation in my stomach and my eyes start to water.

James takes the bottle away from me, before I can drop it on the ground. I’m getting so weak. Amy helps me lay down on the sofa and then the darkness closes in.

Amy’s POV:

“She should have woken up by now!” Moose snaps.

It’s been three hours and is getting on for nine. Lissa should be waking up by now. Nadine’s going to take three hours as well and it’ll be past midnight before the girls can go home. It’s Monday tomorrow as well. I hope the girls don’t get into trouble for being so late.

I feel her pulse again. “She should be showing signs of life!”

“But she’s managed to transform,” Padge points out.

“But she’s just not alive. The transformation worked, meaning she is the Dark Angel. But…I don’t know why she hasn’t woken up,”

“If she’s a Dark Angel then doesn’t that make her a Dark creature?” Moose breaks the moment of silence.

“I hate to admit it, but you’re right,” I nod. “It does make her a Dark Angel. But not all Dark creatures are evil,”

“It did make her Dark,” James purses his lips. “I know none of us want to admit it but she’s-”

“She’s not!” Moose exclaims. “She’s not!”

“Someone call Matt and Nadine in,” James doesn’t answer him.

Padge gets up and shouts for Matt and Nadine to come back in. They join us and Nadine looks back and forth between Lissa and the rest of us. She narrows her blue eyes in suspicion. I wonder if she already knows what we’re going to tell her.

“Lissa…” James begins.

“Lissa is dead,” Moose looks Nadine in the eye and then Matt. “The transformation worked but it killed her. She probably wasn’t strong enough for the drink. Lissa is dead,”

 A/N:

Okay, so there's one thing I want to point out:

In case anyone's wondering, an Adlet (what Jay is) is an Inuit beast. It's a demonic werewolf.
