PROBLEM X | Rumor Spread Like Wild Fire

At Lakeville high, news and rumors spread like wild fire does, in a dry forest.

Therefore, the Next day, Lakeville high was buzzing with people and gossip. The gossip being the Jock and Reyana's patch up. Aren't they a couple made in heaven?

It was past first hour at school and I was headed straight to my next hour—Biology. I would hate to admit it, but I love biology like a nerd's love. I may not be a nerd in reality, but Ryan's title of 'nerd' becomes absolutely accurate when it comes to Biology.

To my dismay though, I hadn't seen Houston in school today—yet. As far as I've known about Houston—that is practically nothing—but as much as I've heard about him, his attendance at school raises upto like 98%.

And that boy's best friend calls me nerd! Ironic, ain't it?

Biology, today passed like a breeze with a simple lecture about the human circulatory system. The Atrio-ventricular node is located on the wall of the right atrium near the opening of coronary sinus...And that's when I started disregarding the biological words. Slightly tapping my pencil on the wooden desk is how I spent the whole hour of Biology. But when the bell rang, an involuntary groan left my lips. Here comes the bummer hour—Math.

Math—aka, Mental Abuse To Humans. I don't know who came up with this one phrase to describe math, but boy did the person use the correct terminology! And boy do I agree.

Honestly, if I were the type to skip classes repeatedly, I'd skip math everyday. So needless to say, 45 minutes of math were absolute torture to my pretty little delicate brain and self. But on the bright side, lunch followed Math!

The hallways were buzzed with students as soon as the bell had rung. Though, seconds later, the hallway was buzzing with whispers, like the whole mass of students were playing a game of Chinese whisper. Instead of rowdy laughing of the jocks, or the routine gossips that goes around the school, a pin hitting the floor could be heard slightly below all the whispering going on. The cause was quite unknown to me until I had spotted Houston in the middle of the hallway, his green eyes looking right ahead, though his ears were perked up at the mentions of his name going around.

Did you know they patched up?
Omhgee! I can't believe they got back together! Didn't Reyana cheat on him?
How could Houston take her back?!
Houston doesn't deserve Reyana! She cheated! And he took her back?
Ridiculous!
Fucking bitch.
Slut.
Manwhore!

Heck, forget Houston, even I could hear them whisper word by word. Listening to the rumors, I kept my gaze at Houston. His ears were still perked up but he walked with his head held high and a smile on his face—no matter how annoying that Jock is, I still had an admiration for how he put up that non caring façade that made him look so immune to the whispers and rumors. His bookbag was slung carelessly over his shoulder while he made his way to the cafeteria.
