PROBLEMXXXI | VarsityJacket
I was at Grace’s house. After seeing the house completely and entirely empty, I bailed out of there since I didn’t like the silence. It was completely empty. Justin wasn’t there, neither was Andy.
And The Silence was deafening. It irked me for some obscure reason like nothing else.
It was odd, there was no text left for me on my phone. No calls. No sticky note on the door or fridge. Zilch.
“Cherry, you’re over reacting.”
“I am not! He always leaves me a text, Grace!”
“Okay, maybe the text didn’t get delivered or the sticky note fell off? It can happen to anyone Clover,” Grace said.
It could. But the feeling, an instinct inside my head, it was pounding, telling me that itcouldhappen, butit didn’t.
Bottom line was, that my mind was far away from a peace.
Grace took me to a nearby Starbucks, knowing it would cheer me up. This Starbucks was about a five minute walk from Grace’s house and fell right on the other side of a street, and on the other side was the Central Park. It was also a ten minute walk from LakeVille High and so this was a major hangout spot for the Jocks for the Central Park housed a basketball court which could be evidently seen from quite a few selective booths of Starbucks.
There was a varsity jacket on be of the booths at Starbucks. Grace pointed it out for me, I hadn’t even noticed it.
And that was a lie.
The first thought in my mind seeing the jacket was of a certain Green eyed boy. It didn’t take a second for the thought to crash inside my mind.
Grace picked up the varsity jacket, tucking it under her arm and I looked at her unbelievingly. “Are you out of your mind? Keep it back!”
Grace rolled her eyes at me, “Someone obviously forgot it here. I will return it tomorrow morning.”
OrI could do it. IneededtoseeHoustonanyway.
“Uh Grace, maybe I could give it back? I mean, I did promise Ryan to meet him tomorrow.”
Grace gazed at me, her eyebrows skyrocketed, “You’re meeting him? What happened to burning him alive and heating marshmallows on him?”
“I said that?” I cringed, “I never knew I could be cruel.”
Grace looked away as our names were called, “Sure...”
