Cain's POV
Sunny San Francisco is a really beautiful place to live. The Golden Gate Bridge is only a few minutes away from my house.
I've been texting Janelle nonstop. Her cousin, Lawrence is a good friend of mine and he brought her so we can meet. She's a real beauty. Lawrence did make it awkward at times, like leaving us for awhile to go to the bathroom and pushing us together.
When I first saw her, she made my heart stop. She was in a pretty blue dress that showed off her beautiful legs. I've never felt this for any other girl except for Janelle.
What sucks is she lives in Los Angeles. That's like ten hours away from here. Plus the traffic there is hell.
My cousin Lily lives there and I have visited her a couple times, but my job as a civil engineer requires me to be here every single day. No day offs for me.
Janelle wants me to go visit her this weekend so I am. I could never say no to her. I'm so attracted to her and hopefully it could turn into something beautiful.
"Engineer Westbrooke!"
I was inside my trailer, jotting down notes when I heard my name being called. I hurried outside with my hard hat on.
"Something wrong with the pipes on the east side!" The construction noise made it hard to hear.
"Got it!" I gave him a thumbs up.
I fixed the problem and called it a day. I went to the store to buy a couple outfits so I can impress Janelle.
"$278 is your total, Sir."
I swiped my card and left with four bags in my hands.
I arrived to my house and took a hot shower to relax my muscles.

I'm currently in a restaurant waiting for Janelle. I'm having lunch with her and I've been waiting for this moment since last week.
A hand touched my shoulder softly and I turned around.
"Hey, Cain." She smirked.
"Hey." I stood up and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
"I missed you so much." I starred into her eyes.
"Me too."
I looked at her and my eyes trailed down her body. We sat down and she ordered us two beers.
"I'll have a water instead." I said.
"Water? Are you serious? Live a little Cain." She giggled.
"I don't drink. Sorry." She scoffed and rolled her eyes at me.
"Janelle, I want you to know that I want something serious here." I grabbed her hands.
"Cain, I want something between us too."
"Hopefully it can happen then." I kissed her knuckles.
Lunch with Janelle was amazing. I got to know her better inside and out. She agreed to hangout tomorrow as well before I leave to the airport.
I stopped by to visit my cousin Lily who lives in LA. I haven't seen her for a while and I need to update her of what's going on in my life.
"Cain, I thought you forgot about your favorite cousin." She chuckled.
"Never." I smiled.
I walked into her living room and saw someone sitting on her couch.
"Hi. I'm Aria. A friend of Lily." She shook my hand and smiled.
"Aria? Don't you remember me? It's me, Cain." I would never forget Aria.
Her eyes squinted and then they got wide. "Cain! It's been so long!"
I gave her a big hug. "It has. You never texted me after Lily's birthday at Six Flags."
"I totally forgot. I'm sorry. Hey, did you get a haircut. Last time I saw you you had a head full of curls."
"I remember you would always call me 'Curly', but yea I cut it. It was getting long and kept bothering me." I smiled at her.
I remember Aria so well. She was the one holding my hand when we rode the Superman together. I admitted to her I was scared of rollercoasters, but she didn't make fun of me. Instead she held my hand and screamed with me on the ride. We had a great time together.
"Wait? Are you the same Cain who is talking to my cousin Janelle?"
"That's me." I smiled.
"You're talking to Janelle?" Lily asked.
"Yes." I replied.
"I thought she was still talking to her ex?" Lily said.
"They broke up." Aria added.
"I saw them hanging out yesterday at a bar. They were a little too friendly with each other."
"She never mentioned an ex, but Lily, are you sure?" I asked.
Why would Janelle do this? I thought she was a good person.
"Let's not jump to conclusions. I'll ask Janelle tomorrow."
"Thank you Aria."
The three of us watched a movie the rest of the night before it was time to go.
"Lily, you're going to have to drop me off." Aria stretched herself out on the couch, rubbing her eyes.
"Call an uber." Lily yawned.
"Lazy ass. I'll take you Aria." I took out my car keys.
"Goodnight Lily. I love you." I hugged Lily.
"Drive safe." She mumbled.
Cain opened the door for me to get in. "Thank you."
"Who is Janelle's ex-boyfriend?" I asked Aria. I was curious.
"Some pothead." She scoffed. "His name is Marc."
"How long did their relationship last?" I shot another question.
"Five years, but it was on and off."
"Aria, I really like Janelle. I really do." I said.
"Dude, listen. Janelle is a person who needs a lot of time. If she tells you she needs time, give her time. Don't rush it or you'll scare her." Aria advised.
"I'll walk you up." We arrived to her apartment building.
"It's fine Cain."
"I'm walking you up, Aria." I insisted.
"Fine." She laughed.
"Last time I saw you I remember you were still in university." I told her.
"I graduated and now I'm a licensed architect."
"Wow really? I'm a civil engineer. Maybe we can work on something in the future."
We stepped out of the elevator and she was getting her apartment keys out.
"Thank you Cain. I'll see you some other time."
"Maybe we can hangout again like the old times. I'm gonna be going back and forth from here to San Francisco for Janelle. We should get together. Also, you can tell about Janelle if she is talking to her ex again."
"Gossip is not my thing, Cain. Good night. Drive safe back to your hotel." She chuckled.
"Bye Aria." I smiled at her and she went inside her apartment.
On the way to my hotel I thought about what Lily said about Janelle and Marc. She would have told me something if she needed to get over her ex or something first.
I'll know by tomorrow what's really going on.
