Cain's POV
"Mom, tell me what I should do? I really like her and I don't like seeing her like this." I buried my face in my hands.
"I promise you everything will soon be alright. Life is just putting you through this, but you are a strong person and can get through this. Both of you can." Her hands were on my shoulder.
"I hope you're right, mom." I looked at her.
"Now, come with me to the kitchen and help me make those sugar cookies you love." She stood up.
"Mom, I'm not a kid anymore." I groaned.
"You will always be my baby boy, Cain. C'mon or else I'll give them to the lovely maids and the staff. They will surely-"
"I'm going." I stood up and put my arm around her as we walked to the kitchen.
"You taking good care of my house?" She chuckled.
"Of course, mom. By the way, I'm thinking of buying a house of my own. I don't want to be living there my entire life."
"I think that's a great idea, dear. There are some beautiful homes just up the street. I can call our agent and he can show you some homes. It's going to be fun, trust me." She smiled.
"I bet."
Mom and I were cleaning up while we waited for the cookies to finish baking. I saw my dad's car pull up from the small screen in the kitchen.
"Bring the cookies tomorrow, mom. I'm going to go. I love you!" I gave her a kiss on the cheek and hurried out the back door.
"Cain-" She called me, but I ignored her.
I got in my car and drove back home. It was getting late and I needed to get back home to Aria. I wanted to see if she was doing alright.
I opened the front door and all the lights were off. I went upstairs and there was light coming from under her door. I decided to open the door.
She was curled up in a ball. I walked closer to her. She was sound asleep and snoring a little. I pulled a blanket over her and turned off the light.
I went back in my room and changed into a pair of sweats and a t-shirt. I got in bed and fell asleep.

I rubbed my eyes and looked at the time on my watch that was on the nightstand. It wasn't even seven, yet. I was already awake so I got out of bed and got in the shower.
I changed into some clean clothes and went downstairs. I got out the eggs and toast. Might as well make a killer breakfast since I'm up so early.
I made enough for Aria in case she wanted some. It's been an hour and I'm guessing she's still asleep. She's been sleeping a lot lately, but she does seem tired from work and from what's been going on.
I ate my breakfast while reading the sports section from the newspaper and taking a look at the news.
I heard rustling from the front door. I went to see who it was.
"Mom, you scared the sh-"
"Watch that mouth, Cain. This is still my house and I don't allow that type of language here." She said.
If only she knew how many times I swore in her house.
"Sorry, mom." I walked over to her and gave her a hug.
"I'm bringing you your cookies since you stormed out on me last night. I was so close to giving them to our lovely maids." She placed a plate full of sugar cookies on the table.
"You know why I left, mom. I don't want to see him." I sighed.
"Believe it or not, he still cares about you."
"Want some breakfast?" I asked, trying to change the subject.
"I'll just have some coffee, dear." She sat down.
I got her a cup of coffee and got a handful of the cookies to gobble up.
"Here is the realtor's card. He will be expecting a call from you, so call him as soon as possible." She handed me a card.
"Gee, thanks, mom." I put the card away.
"Good morning."
Mom and I both turned our heads to look at Aria. She looked so beautiful.
"Sorry to interrupt-" She smiled, nervously.
"No, you're not interrupting anything, Aria." I smiled back at her.
"Mom, this is Aria. Aria this is my mother, Helen." I brought Aria closer to my mom.
"Aria! It's so nice to finally meet you. Cain has said so many wonderful things about you." Mom gave her an unexpected hug.
"Nice to finally meet you, Mrs. Westbrooke. Cain has said so much about you as well. And your home is lovely." Aria said.
"Thank you, dear. I'm glad you like it. This was the first house I bought, before meeting Cain's father. I never plan on getting rid of it." Mom laughed.
"You shouldn't." Aria smiled.
"I made breakfast, Aria. You really need to eat since you missed dinner yesterday." I told her.
"Are you alright, dear? You feeling sick?" Mom questioned.
"No, no. I'm perfectly fine. I was just really tired yesterday, that's all. I'll serve myself breakfast right now." She stood up and went over to the stove.
"How is Cain treating you?" My mom asked.
I frowned at her. "Mom?!"
"What?" She mouthed to me in a quiet whisper.
"Cain is treating me just fine. He's such a nice guy. You raised him right, Mrs. Westbrooke." Aria sat down next to me.
I smiled at Aria.
Mom gazed at her watch and stood up. "Sorry, but I have to get going. I have some errands to run. Aria, help yourself to the sugar cookies Cain and I made. Just don't eat them all or else Cain will get really angry." Mom joked.
I buried my face in my hands. "Mom?!"
"Bye, Mrs. Westbrooke. Have a good day."
"Bye, dear. It was nice meeting you."
"...and bye to you my handsome boy. I love you!" Mom gave me a kiss.
"I love you, mom."
I walked my mom out the front door.
"You're mom is so nice." Aria said as I passed by.
"Thank you. I can tell she really liked you." I smiled at her.
"I liked her, too." She got up and put her plate in the sink. There was a minute of awkward silence.
"I told him." Aria spoke.
"What are you talking about?" I folded my arms and leaned against the counter.
"I broke up with James." She turned around to face me.
It was until now that I noticed her eyes. Her swollen red eyes. She was crying all night. I wrapped my arms around her and she began to cry.
"You should have seen him. I'm such a cruel person." She murmured.
I hugged her tighter.
