"You're not trying hard enough, Eden." Kane said breathily against her ear.

She shivered, her eyes squeezed shut. "I'm doing the best I can but..." Her voice trailed off as he moved closer to her. She stiffened up slightly when she felt his hand graze her skin.

"You have to hold back, sweet heart. This will never work if you can't relax. When you get riled up your emotions tumble around inside you and you lose control, we can't have that happening every five minutes."

"I said I'm trying! But how can I relax when you're all in my space?" She snapped, pressing herself against the arm of the couch to garner some space away from him.

Kane stiffened up and for a moment, he thought he was going to fall prey to her strength again. He shot up off the love seat, a frown plastered across his handsome face. He didn't think it would be this hard. When he had been chosen to finish out this mission he had been more than honored. He was one of the best warrior mage's ever trained and he reveled in his status. He had thought, wrongly, that it would be easy to watch over her. He had silently considered it baby sitting. He hadn't expected to find a beautiful, sensual, woman waiting for him. And this woman was the key to strengthening an entire league of mage's? A woman he had to constantly remind himself not to seduce.

But now as he stood raking his brain for some semblance of a plan to keep himself from virtually charming her into his bed he knew that this was a whole hell of a lot more than he bargained for.

"Alright, let's try something else. Come here." He said seriously, standing straight, his eyes demanding that she do as he asked.

She frowned at him before sighing. "Could we take a break? I'm tired... It's been a long couple of days. I just found out that my grandparents were mystical wizards and that I'm the witch of the century and I'd just really like to take a nap. We can finish this... training, later."

She stood and moved to walk past him but he grabbed her arm and yanked her against him.

"What are you doing? Kane, get off me!" She said as she smacked his hand.

"Look at me, Eden." He whispered.

She did, his voice was suddenly extremely soft, and eerily soothing to her ears. She met his eyes and was seemingly lost in a trance of explosive colors and calming silence. The world around her completely dissolved into a hazy nothingness. She leaned forward, resting her breast against his chest, totally engulfed in his spell. She felt a strange urge to crawl into his arms and burrow there.

Suddenly he jumped back, holding her at an arms' length.

"What was that?" He grit out through clenched teeth.

She blinked up at him, coming out of whatever she had been locked in.

"What was what?" She whispered through parted lips.

"You over powered me... how on earth did you manage to... are you sure you've never used your powers before?" He asked suspiciously.

She frowned at him, "I think I'd know if I used magic. But the real question is what did you do to me just now?"

He continued to study her, his eyes moving up and down her body with extreme curiosity, in search of an answer to his silent inner questions.

"Hey!" She said as she snapped her fingers in front of his face, "What did you just do to me?"

His eyes landed on her crystal pendant and he played with it between his fingers, his brows furrowed. "It's a technique called translucent bifocalitation."

"Translucent bifocal-it-action?" She tried.

He smiled at her pronunciation of the word. "No sweet heart, bifocalit-tation."
