Kane stood beside Eden, knocking on the metal door before them.

Eden clung to Kane's arm, her mind conjuring up images of a giant monster opening the door and welcoming them in. After a long while the door creaked before swiftly being yanked wide open.

In the door way stood a petite, curvy black woman with shoulder length kinky hair. Her skin was a dark brown shade and her eyes were so dark they were almost black. There a dazed, almost glazed over look in her eyes. On her neck was what looked like two puncture wounds, each one slightly bleeding and the area all in itself was a soft bruised shade of purple.

Suddenly a tall, handsome brown skinned man appeared, a frown on his face and sharpened, extended canines. Red liquid was shared on his teeth, and his mouth was covered in it.

Eden's eyes widened as recognition hit her... bloody fangs. The man had fangs.

"Shit, Myla, you shouldn't be moving around." He admonished in a deep, baritone voice. There was a commanding tone to his voice and yet a gentle sensuality lied underneath. He spoke as if he truly cared for the woman, his look of concern in her direction only seemed to emphasize it.

Without looking up the man wrapped an arm around the petite woman's shoulders and gently pulled her close, rubbing her back in soothing circles, "Come in Kane. And lock my door behind you."

Kane urged Eden inside, swiftly moving in behind her and closing the big metal door shut. There were several locks on the door and he latched them all into place.

The room was large and spacious, several long couches and a fire place came into view.

Eden took a step forward but froze in her tracks when she saw the tall man hugging the petite woman close to his chest. With one hand he was gently tilting her head to the side, his mouth latched onto her neck. Droplets of blood ran down her shoulder and back, staining the material of her clothing.

Despite that, the woman wasn't screaming in agony or expressing any kind of pain. She was whimpering instead, her body writhing, her breathing loud and her hands gripping at his mushed dress shirt.

She clung to him, her whimpers turning into moans before the woman tensed up entirely, letting out a small, hoarse, almost orgasmic scream. The man caught her, holding her tight as she virtually went limp in his hold.

He suddenly looked up, his eyes meeting Eden's. His eyes were a fluorescent red, blood dribbled down the side of his plump lips, stained his neatly shaped facial hair and dripped down his chin.

He smirked at Eden, "What's the matter? Never seen a man quench his thirst?"

"Get on with it, Bryson." Kane snapped, making Eden jump.

Bryson chuckled before leaning down to lick the woman's exposed neck, cleaning away the blood there. He reached down and lifted her into his arms, heading for one of the long sofa's and sitting with a graceful flourish, placing the unconscious woman in his lap, her head lying on his shoulder.

He licked his lips, wiping away at any blood potentially left over.

"Since you've taken it upon yourself to interrupt my meal time, I assume you're here for that favor I owe you?" The vampire said with genuine interest, his hands absentmindedly caressing the sleeping woman. His hands never stopped moving, rubbing at her body in soothing circles.

Kane smirked, "Why else would I show up at a vampire's door in the middle of the night?"

Bryson laughed, the sound loud and boisterous. "Come my stubborn, irritating friend, have a seat."

Kane moved forward, his hand on the small of Eden's back. She didn't budge. She was still staring wide eyed at Bryson. He was a vampire. Vampires were real.

This shouldn't surprise her, not after finding out that witches and wizards were real... but God, who wouldn't be surprised?

Kane urged her forward, sitting across from the pair. He held Eden close, rubbing up and down her arm.

"Everything is okay." He whispered to her.

She trusted Kane but the vampire sitting across from them with an unconscious woman in his lap? Not so much.

"What's the matter, honey? You act like you've never seen a vampire before."

"She hasn't." Kane said.

Bryson froze at that, raising a brow in interest, amusement on his face, curiosity in his eyes, "Really, now? What kind of witch doesn't know about the existence of vampires?"

"How do you know she's a witch?" Kane countered.

Bryson frowned, "Is this a joke? The woman has pheromones so strong that if I weren't as strong as I am I probably would have lunged for her the moment you appeared on my doorstep."

He scrunched up his nose, "I could smell her long before you showed up. She even masked out your scent."

That made Kane's frown spread. She hadn't even finished the ceremony and her pheromones were already that strong?

"We need to stay here for the night. We'll be leaving in the morning."

Bryson furrowed his brows, "Of course, you needn't ask for something so simple."

"With this, we're even." Kane said, standing and pulling Eden up with him.

"This is the favor you ask of me? Something so simple?" The man frowned, "No, we are not even. This is not enough to repay you, Kane. I'm no swindler. You may stay the night here in my second wing but I will not count this as your favor."

The woman seated on his lap began to stir, her lips moving as she mumbled something incoherent. The vampire's attentions were suddenly completely stolen as he began to gently rub his hands up and down the woman's body, whispering sweet words to her as she awoke.

He raised a hand and waved them off, "Go now. Think of the suite as your own until you leave."

Kane grabbed Eden's hand and led her from the room.

"And Kane?" Bryson called out. "The next time you call on me for help, start with what's really going on."

That comment made Kane smirk, "I'll tell you what I want you to know."

As Kane led Eden along, the loud sound of Bryson laughing echoed behind them.
