RW Chapter Thirteen

A/N: Yay a new chapter. I don't want to write this, idk why XD I'm so tired D: I saw the new episode of Naruto Shippuden and Itachi was on screen for the majority of the episode - which I liked very much XD 

Chapter Thirteen

"Ari? God of Life? What?" I splutter, seriously confused and puzzled.

"You heard correctly. I'm supposed to keep you alive. I can't let you die. Us Gods of Life are supposed to counteract the powers of the Death Note should it get in the hands of a human. Humans shouldn't be Gods." She explains and I raise an eyebrow. Death Note's actually exist? I was right. Should I tell L this? But then how would I be able to say that I know for sure, he probably won't believe me if I say I have a notebook and a God of Life, which until now I was sure didn't even exist.

"Isn't that slightly hypocritical? You're giving a human the power of a god too. I shouldn't be able to bring people back from the dead!" I exclaim. I let out a sigh and grab my mug and lift it to my mouth, only to find I drained it of liquid a long time ago.

"We wouldn't do that unless a human has possession of a Death Note. The Shinigami just drop their Death Notes out of boredom, clumsiness or they don't know what to do with their spares. Once the Death Notes have been taken back from this world, I'll collect the Life Note from you and you'll lose every memory you had of it." She adds, still failing to justify her reasons.

I shake my head. "If you want to counteract the Death Note's powers, then you should find another way. You're being extremely hypocritical and unfair." I snap bitterly. "I don't know, kill the Shinigami and take the Death Note?"

She shakes her head, her golden hair swaying with the movement. I want her hair... my hair sucks.

"We can't touch the Death Note and we can't kill Shinigami. Just like how they can't kill us and they can't take our Life Notes."

"Where did the Life Note come from anyway? Do you even use it?"

"It was invented when the first Death Note fell, only humans have used them. We don't need to bring humans back from the dead."

I let out another sigh and lay my head on the table. "Why don't you just make an agreement with the Shinigami instead? I'd rather not get caught up in your petty fight."

"It's not a petty fight!" Ari snaps back and I laugh.

"Yes. It is." I retort. "I'm not saying you have to like each other, but just make some compromise. Anyway, could you go? I have a serial killer to catch." I sit up properly and begin looking at the notes I made.

Yotsuba are definitely my prime suspect for the killings. Someone there is Kira.

If Ari is going to stop me from going there and potentially get myself killed, then I'll hack into their computers. If L can't trace my hackings back to this address, I doubt they can. So I'll definitely be safe. I open up my computer and check L's files. I should leave a note asking if he's upped his security system. Maybe I can ask him to allow me through so I can get back in when I've finished snooping through Yotsuba's stuff.

I'm going to be hacking into Yotsuba's computer files. I suspect that they're behind the current Kira killings and the deaths of employees from rival companies. However, I don't exactly have a top-of-the-range computer so it can't handle hacking into multiple computers at the same time. Sucks, right? I could buy a new computer but that takes time... I need to get into their files ASAP.

So could you either not make your computer harder to get into, or somehow make it so my computer can go into your files without any hassle? I spent a week trying to get into it before... I don't exactly have that time to spend again.

I drop the message onto his desktop and open up his internet browser, I select a song and begin to play it. Hopefully he has speakers that are switched on otherwise this won't work.

Not that long later I receive a reply from L (who else?).

I would greatly appreciate you not playing that atrocious music on my computer again. I'm tempted to make my security even more difficult to get through. However, since you're helping me, I'll let it slide this time.

I did increase security, but I'll add a code that you can use to get in. It'll only be available for 12 hours though. Please notify me when you are back in my files. Just don't play music again.

I hope it isn't too difficult to remember.

What kind of stupid code is that? It's more like a stupid password someone would use for their Neopets account.

That's a funny image, the greatest detective in the world playing Neopets.

I then get rid of the image and leave L's documents and set to work hacking into Yotsuba's. They better have good information, especially since I have to remember a stupid password.

Half an hour later, and I'm into their files. Their security was pretty easy to get into (if you couldn't tell from the time it took me). I begin searching through their documents as well as bringing up a list of all their current employees and how high up the company they are. I doubt a cleaner for them will try to take down rival companies, but someone who is CEO or head of a group will likely be the one that's Kira.

After hours of searching, I find nothing suspicious. Though to be perfectly honest, I didn't suspect anything would be suspicious. Computer files are easily hacked so they wouldn't display their Kira stuff, and it could turn out that the company as a whole has nothing to do with it and it's just a single employee working on their own.

I then hack back into L's computer, and to no surprise I find a message asking me to input the magical code. It's leaving a hint:

What is my favourite food?

I hope that it is a clue to throw people off and not L tricking me. The code he gave me better work.

I type the code in and I'm immediately granted access into his files.

I didn't find anything suspicious, however I managed to save a list of their current employees. I'll drop the file onto your desktop. I hope the information helps.

Also, you can remove the stupid code and increase your security. I don't plan to leave your files anytime soon.

I stand up and grab my purse. Time to buy a new computer so I can hack into other computers without having to ask L to create some stupid code for me again.

"Where are you going? You're not going to Tokyo are you?" Ari pesters me as I get ready to leave my apartment.

"No. Just buying a new computer. I'm only catching a bus to the nearest shopping centre. Don't get your panties in a twist, I'm not going on some suicide mission." I snap bitterly to the God of Life that is stalking me.

I hope Kira gets caught soon, then I can get rid of the Life Note and say goodbye to Ari for good.
